When Bloggers Meet Up
I’m back from being attacked!!!
Yes wild times and craziness was had by all at my latest mini blogger meet-up in BC.
This 56 second video shows that we can still “shake it shake it, like we’s supposed to” as well as some of the amazing vintage pieces we tried on at The House Of Vintage…one of my favourite places to shop when I’m in Vancouver.
I was let into the inner sanctum and mystery of Melanie AKA Bag and a Beret.
This included a visit to the super scary recycling room and her favourite spot…the well lit stairwell.
I can tell you that is everything you see here and so much less more.
I’d like to share all of the juicy surprising details I gathered while visiting Melanie’s home and studio but then I’d have to kill you.
Just sayin’.
I also had the chance to visit with and enjoy the lovely company of Sue from A Colourful Canvas.
She looked like the picture of Spring in one of her handmade coats even though the weather was in fact quite awful as noted by my long coat, scarf and umbrella.
Don’t let the location of this retail store fool you. Yes, we took in some eye candy at The Room and TopShop however the only real shopping we did was secondhand.
What is wrong with this photo?
Sue and I have become one legged Siamese twin bloggers!!!
Our blog niche is minuscule because Sue has to make all of our clothes from scratch which is extra complicated because we are different sizes and each of us wants to dress differently to “stand apart” from the other.
Badum bum.
Of course we managed to take time to eat.
There is always room for dessert.
This photo was when we were having fun with our cute waiter. Notice the twinkle in all of our eyes ; ) He was a blast.
We spent the first day taking lots of footage for our next blockbuster video.
I’m not kidding. We spent at least a good hour or more at Talize making fools of ourselves.
At one point Mel was on laid out on the floor with clothes scattered on top of her and shoes and boots all around like she had awoken from a thrift nightmare dream. I towered victoriously above her, my foot planted firmly on her chest.
I overheard some woman rush over to the cashier and in a very concerned voice say,
“There is a lady that has fallen on the ground and someone else is stepping on her!”
Ah the joy of bloggy friends that have no shame.
Then we made some time for thrifting. Of course!
Hawaiian maxi dress size medium.
I call this dress wearing your Spanx on the outside.
I’m sure they ripped this dress out of Joan’s wardrobe from Mad Men. Stop Staring 1950’s wiggle dress reproduction size small.
Love the tag hanging off of Sue!
She is mighty fine and bought most of what she is wearing here.
Mel always steals the show…no matter where she goes.
If Charlie’s Angels were over 50 bloggers and thrift shoppers…
And if the golden booties fit…
We all loved these.
When you hang out with fashion bloggers people take notice.
We had one woman come up and take our photo when we were at The Bay.
I was literally forced to give my autograph to our cute waiter.
Typo.
I forced my autograph onto the cute waiter.
{shrug}
Same difference.
Then while Mel and I were walking back to her place a guy spotted Melanie taking photos of me on this lit sidewalk.
He then offered to take some photos of us where we were promptly accosted by some over zealous fans photobombed by some drunk guy.
The guy that captured these photos is an aspiring photographer. Shame I seem to have misplaced his card.
Really I’m not trying to punch Melanie in the chest. The photographer suggested I hold the umbrella there.
It almost looks like we are flying in that last photo.
Blogger meet-ups really are so much fun!
How I wish I lived closer to these two wonderful women.
I shall take a nap on some styrofoam now until next time.
Don’t you just wish you could have been there with us?
Linking up with my wonderful friend Patti over at Visible Monday.
Yes, yes, yes! So much fun! You guys are a blast alone, together you’re explosive. Glad you had fun. Oh, and I WANT THAT JOAN DRESS!
They totally make that dress in your size!

They stretch like crazy.
I do, I do and I’d have bought my own boots as I’ve got those very same ones!
What a fabulous time you had. I loved the video and your killer maxi coat and, no way, I swear I’ve got that Hawaiian open sleeved maxi in my wardrobe.
I’ve got a blogging buddy day out very soon, you’ve got me even more excited about it! xxx
It doesn’t surprise me one bit you also own that Hawaiian maxi and some gold booties. Great minds : )
Just WOW – “every inch of youse is perfect from the bottom to the top!” Three divine queens of dressing, and shopping, and finding the cutest waiters. So glad you have recorded some of the splendor for us. xox

My post about our meetup feels waaay too sober. I’ll trade ya! HAHAHA!!! Your video sums it up. I wish Sue was in there but her commentary behind the scenes was truly responsible for a lot of the laughs in those scenes.
No, you were grabbing my boob, don’t hide it!, and that’s why I have those weird vampire eyes. And yes, your foot was on my chest. Am I noticing a trend here? Hahaha! That poor lady who thought you were walking on me. Your first photo is a scream. Badum bum. If I could, this entire comment would be HAHAHAHA. So great to spend time with you and Sue. Can’t even.
I don’t even feel bad about stepping on you or grabbing your boob. That is the sign of true friendship…I think. Ha ha!
Sure sounds like you guys had plenty (or too much?) fun! Love the story about startling another shopping with the scene of one on the ground and another standing on top of her….it’s true, that might be a startling scene to come across while shopping…
It is funny because it was so obvious that we were filming.
You three have clearly taken the time honored (?) concept of the blogger meetup to a whole new level of she- she- and she -SHENANIGANS!!!! It seems that you swept through Vancouver spreading your charm and happiness (except for that one woman who freaked out) and showed us what it truly means to FROLIC!!!
Gawd!!!! I’d have given Sue my arm and a LEG to have joined in the fun!! A couple of the dresses you tried on for the video were seriously gorgeous! ! My fave was the black one with the round pockets that Melanie had on. Thanks for sharing the fun Suzanne!!!
You would have loved it Jude.
Yes, I tried to convince Melanie to buy that red dress but she claimed her closet had no room. I KNOW. I’m like, “Put it in the kitchen cupboard!”
Black dress with red pockets but you knew that ; P
Lovely to read about such a fun sounding outing! I do feel slightly sorry for the sales staff though 😉
Funny enough it was the store that actually invited us back. It seems they are our biggest fans. They were so thrilled with our first couple of videos. They rolled out the red carpet so-to-speak by introducing us to all the staff members and letting us know we were free to do as we wished and if they could be of help in any way just to let them know. We had full reign of the store AND a big discount on top of it.
I asked in advance about the floor scene and they were all on board. We are creating ART after all ; P
oh yes, I just wish I could have been there with you!, ohhhh, so fabulous to go thrifting with Glamourous Blogueuses!!.
I think you have the best coats ever, all of you!!, and so fab that you visited the famous styrofoam corner!!! mwahaha!!!
I’m in love with all your glorious coolness, dear ladies!
besos
You would have fit right in! Shame you live so far away.
It looks like you had a fantastic and fun time. It makes me think of my thrifting sessions with my friend, Princess Inez, always fooling around and having lots of fun. No wonder they all know us in the shops! xxx
It does make a bit of a statement when you have that much fun : P People tend to remember you.
OH, this makes me so happy!
And for the record…I bought everything in that photo, LOL!
It all looked AWESOME.
Oh… I sOOoooo wished I could have been there. Indeed these meetings are such a blast and you lot are such idiots.. I mean such good sports hahaha. I laughed so loud when I read: “There is a lady that has fallen on the ground and someone else is stepping on her!” Whahaha.. Blogger friends that go mad… the best.
Greetje
Yes, I think we may have even trumped your singing on the train for audaciousness ; P
I cannot wait to see the video Mel is going to make : )
Me? Singing on the train? I have no recollection of that.
I am DYING of jealousy! Having experienced the joy that is Melanie and Sue in person, of course I wish I could have been there with you. The Stop Staring dress is just delicious! I loved seeing all the dresses you tried on.
It was so much fun to dress up in that vintage store. I could have spent another hour there at least.
We missed you Shelley!
This is what life is all about!! Friends & laughter! What a fabulous time—I could imagine the hoots & hollers for the three of you!

You bet I do! How much fun are you having dressing up, lunching and stepping on fellow bloggers! Poor fellow shoppers, heaven knows what they were thinking,
I am just thinking that you all look amazing, and having so much fun!!! 🙂
love the gold booties, and your stairwell picture. Everyone is so pretty!

Could this be any more perfect? You three have rewritten the definition of Vancoolver style. And you got to see the recycling room, as well as Melanie’s pad! I imagine her place as being all white, with big colourful paintings, and kitchen cupboards with nothing in them except chocolate chip cookies. Am I right?
so fun and exciting! xxx
Wow, thanks for sharing all these fabulous sights and experiences. What a marvelous time you obviously all had. I can only hope that the next blogger meet-up I go to is half as much fun.

The Artyologist
I followed along on IG and you were having so much fun! Three beautiful ladies!
Bloggers certainly know how to have fun!
What wonderful outfits you are all wearing and you all look so glamorous – you must have turned no end of heads!
I have to agree that really is a scary recycling room. I think the all the white polystyrene makes it looks like an alien’s laboratory…still you’ve been there and lived to tell the tale!
xxx
Yes, I DO wish I could have been there with you! What fun! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that video and all the photos you took together, plus your captions, and your thrift finds. Now I know the story behind that gorgeous navy dress and the stunning Hawaiian one too! SO FUN SO COOL!!!
Maybe one day I, too, will know the super secret password to achieve VIP status in the Recycling Room and Well-Lit Stairway. I can only dream….

Cheers for this brilliant inside look at a blogger meet up. We’re all pretty envious of this outing as you can see, but at least we’re able to live it vicariously here. If it weren’t for a huge swathe of water and big lump of land, I’d be there with you lovely gals in a shot. Looked like fabulous fun x

SO MUCH FUN it’s a wonder it’s not illegal (and if it were, keep it going!). I have to admit to being slightly envious of your blogger meetups! But am happy that there’s blogging to allow me to “meet up” via your stories. Thanks for sharing, Suzanne. xx
OMG you guys are the CUTEST. Love the vintage dress montage video!
Oh such fun! Are you all from Canada? Isn t it fantastic to meet up with like minded!
Oh, yes, dear Suzanne, I wish I were there! The house of Vintage is amazing and this bloggers meeting, too! Loved the one leg picture:) And the lady saying “a lady fell down and another lady stepped on her!” Hope you can find the card of the aspiring photographer, because, despite the punch :), the pictures look so great, even with the photobomber – the drunk ones are the funniest 🙂 Loved the coats and golden boots, and Charlie’s Angels would be jealous 🙂 Such a great time, we can really see that through the amazing pictures and video – you girls dance in a beautiful way! Wishing you a lovely week! Bisous!
