Do you ever try on more than one pair of shoes when figuring out what to wear?
I do this all the time. Often I can’t make up my mind.
Choosing The Right Shoe
That’s when I go for both.
If one of these booties wasn’t a good inch taller than the other I would have worn this…
I swear I didn’t think about it at all when I was trying out both of these booties.
It just turned out that they matched each side of the vintage Nik Nik shirt.
As soon as I saw it I loved it.
It would have been a blast to see what kind of reaction I’d get.
I own both the red and yellow versions of these bright yellow booties. I need to figure out how to wear one of each in an outfit.
It could be a challenge as tomato red and neon yellow don’t exactly go together. I’m up for a challenge though!
I think it could work with this vintage plaid coat.
That could work.
In the end I wore the yellow booties.
Another day I wore pink oxfords with the same outfit. When I go to see my chiropractor I try to wear “sensible shoes”.
No photos of the oxfords. Sorry!
I blame that on my useless PA. She doesn’t even know how to work a camera.

Just feeling the happy vintage vibes of this shirt.
Have you seen these designer shoes by Jacquemus that have been making the rounds on celebrities lately?

Apparently I just read that,
“The mismatched shoe trend has been alive and well ever since Céline sent red and white, mismatched booties down the runway at Paris Fashion Week spring/summer ’17.”

Hmph!
And here I thought I’d invented something again.
Whatevs.
Whenever you think you have an original idea just open up the internet. It’s all been done before.
Would you ever go out wearing two different coloured shoes/boots?
I love your brightly-colored boots but prefer to see them in matched sets. Pairing one of each looks off to me. I saw an ad for an amazing new pair of boots today and wondered how they’d look on you — http://www.neimanmarcus.com/Manolo-Blahnik-Diazhigri-Satin-Wrap-Front-Bootie/prod200660208/p.prod?ecid=NMCS__GooglePLA&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=NMCS__GooglePLA&utm_campaign=ManoloBlahnik
Those boots are very elegant. Not me at all ; ) But they are very beautiful. I think they are for you Ally!
Helena Bonham Carter did it in 2011 at the Golden Globes! So you’re in excellent company. I would be tempted to try it too! Xx
I love her! I need to check that out now : )
Its been a thing with the indie kids for ages, mismatched Converse All Stars in clashing colours.
I don’t think I’ve got two pairs of boots with the same heel heights which would mean that I’d walk even more awkwardly than I usually do!
That blouse is fabulous and both boots look amazing with it. xxx
I’m so happy I bought this blouse. I was unsure at the time but it has turned out to a great buy.
well, I would like to give a try to this ‘trend’ as it looks lovely on you!, You Rock!. I love how the different colors match your shirt’s geometric pattern!, I do love it!. However, I don’t own similar shoes with similar heel heights!. But I’ve worn mismatched socks, sometimes deliberately!
Inspiring!
besos
I love that you’ve worn mismatched socks before : P
I used to mix-match my cons with friends and my daughter does it with her two pairs of New Balance tennis shoes—-so it’s still something obvi!!!
Here I am…so late to the party.
I do this and always ask my hubby “which one”?? But I’ve yet to try to wear both at the same time—it’d be so hard unless they are the same shoes, right?
But I have to admit, these are perfect with that shirt!! You are amazing!!
XOXO

ps…sensible shoes are overrated!!!
Ha ha! Tell that to my chiropractor. I feel I get serious stink eye if I show up in anything with a heel over 1″.
Wearing two different shoes can create endless opportunities. Even if it was already invented, yours look so much better. So there! I would have switched them, though: I would have worn the pink booties on the yellow side of the shirt and vice versa. Just an idea. This reminds me of my Dad who once went on holiday wearing two different (but very similar, I must add) shoes. We, of course, teased him endlessly. xxx
Ha ha! Your Dad was obviously preoccupied.
I should wear this to my parents house just for fun. Mind you, they are so used to my “weird” outfits they might not even notice!
I wore mismatched socks yesterday because they had lost their mates. Both the same design but different star patterns. Never done it with shoes. I suspect I would feel unbalanced, like when I try it with earrings.
That shirt is amazing. Great for standing out in a crowd!
Mind you, you would always do that 😉 xo Jazzy Jack
That is interesting about feeling unbalanced. I wonder if I would.
Yeah…I’m not the “blend in” type. Neither are you : )
Yup, you know I would. I saw your look and thought, amazing blouse, love the boots in two colors, and remembered I had seen it but did not remember where. It is sort of like color blocking. I love the unexpected and you have such amazing style— you know just how to wear it !

Can’t wait to see how you put together a look with the same idea.
Yeah, I think I like the idea of mismatched boots in the same style. But not crazy about hose sandals at all.
Only you could have, not one, but two pair of boots that match the wild colors in that NikNik shirt.
How do you store them btw? I mean all your boots. Shoes are tough to make room for, but boots take up even more room in a closet.
I recently went around all day with two pair of black ballet flats that were completely different and didn’t notice until I arrived back home. I had never done something like that before and it kind of scared me!
Theresa
Ha ha! Yes, I do like to have boots in different colours : )
I had a post about how I store all of my goodies recently a recap from an old post…it is in an Ikea closet which are perfect because you can adjust the shelf height and they are massive. I have two of them where I store boots/shoes/handbags.

Also if you follow me on IG I recently posted photos of the boots and shoes for my shop. They are on shelves in the basement patiently awaiting their new owners.
That is a funny story about the ballet flats, although I’m sure you were the only one to notice.
I think I would, answering your question, but it all depends… that’s why I said “I think” 🙂 I loved your vintage shirt and as soon as I saw it, I thought that the boots matched it -and then you had written it! I loved the coat as well and Zoe – such a cute photo! And finally, I loved the choice for the yellow boots (nice to know you also have them in red! I looove red!) he yellow boots surely make a difference, a bright good-humored touch – it seems that wearing yellow and orange produce it. You look very beautiful, dear Suzanne! Hope you have a nice week! Bisous!

With your shoe collection you could create infinite combinations of single shoes paired together!
I think you should try the mismatched boots with that shirt just once! I love the colours – that was a good score from the Vintage show. I would wear mismatched converse, but I don’t have any other boots or shoes that I would mix up. Zoe doesn’t have to work hard; she’s got the cute factor to make up for it.
I would have worn this out but there is a difference in the height of the boots that makes me walk with a limp. I’m all for fashion but not to that extent.
I’m going to give the one red and one yellow boot a go for sure though. They are the same.
Yeah…that Zoë is a real suck. You’ll see.
If I had a blouse that was color blocked like the one you’re wearing and two pairs of the same style boots I’d probably give it a go. I love wearing different socks so I think I’ve begun the mental prep work required…
That shirt is so unique. It has an old airplane on the front right?? It has a 50’s feel and I remember that youve shown it to us (unstyled) before.
Are these a comfy boot? The heel is relatively low but does the sock body feel supportive to the sides of your feet? I have yet to try on any of this style. I somehow doubt that the stores in my new town of Rapid City , South Dakota will carry them… Remember me? I’ve gone West! 🙂
I think that is fab that you already wear different socks.
Yes, the shirt has a war plane on the front of it. It was a vintage 1970s purchase from the recent Toronto Vintage Clothing Show I went to.
I find those boots very comfortable because nothing rubs my feet. It is all soft and cozy like a sock. That is why I bought both the yellow and the red. Sock boots are in fact my favourite of all to wear. I have a pair I bought probably 12 years ago that I’ve worn to death, brown suede knee high ones from the Barney’s outlet in NYC. I wish I had the same in other colours I love them so much.
You might be able to still score these boots online now through Ebay or Poshmark. That is the good thing about the internet, you’re never really isolated.
The blouse is fantastic, the boots awesome and you could definitely carry this two tone look off if you chose to. A quirky look is one that works for you so why not go with it? I did wear different brogues once before see here http://www.annasislandstyle.com/2017/02/decisions-decisions.html
I think the idea of the red and yellow sock boots with the checked jacket is perfect Suzanne especially as they’re identical. Do let us see if you wear that combo sometime this winter.
Anna x
I’d forgotten that you’d beaten me to the punch ; ) You’re always so ahead of the game.
I’ll have to wear those booties out prior to the snow hitting. I don’t think they would be snow friendly at all.
That’s too bad that the heels were different heights- or they would have looked great like that!
I would never have thought of it, but seeing you in this yellow/pink outfit, I say yes, I would if I could. It is such fun.
I wasn’t really that into those red and yellow boots. I liked them, but thought they weren’t for me. Now I regret it. They are soooo cool.

About 35 years ago, I regularly bought the same shoes in different colours.
Once I bought a pair of hot pink plastic sandals and a pair of neon yellow same sandals and I used to where them in different combos, so also: one pink and one yellow sandal.
The comments on the street were not always positive: ‘bird of paradise’ being the more positive one, although the folks that made that remark definitely did not mean it as a compliment.
I also bought like 10 pairs of high top Converse sneakers in a sale in 10 different colours and combined them in every possible way, matching what I wore.
Oh, and I bought the same yellow Zara sock boots as you!
