Lookie lookie what I found on my last thrifting expedition!
Oh yeah baby!
A classic trench coat in black leather.
Leather!
I’m feeling very Trinity badass in this.
4 Tips To Help You Choose A Classic Trench Coat
- Make sure it fits you correctly, sleeves falling to mid hand when arms are down, shoulder seams sitting directly on shoulders, appropriate length for your height, belt sits at waist.
- Consider your weather. Do you need a rain resistant coat? One with a removable lining for colder climates?
- Choosing the right length is important. Shorter trench coats are easier to pair with pants whereas longer trench coats will cover dresses and skirts.
- The colour is crucial. Neutrals will coordinate with all or most of your wardrobe. Pops of vibrant colour are exciting and fun but harder to pair with other clothing.
I’ve never been known for having a sweet disposition but when I wear this coat I feel positively fearless.
Nothing negative is getting in my way wearing this baby. No negative Nellies trashing on my style vibe. No winter storm warning trying to crush my hopes of an early Spring. No illness that has hijacked my week. No delusional blogger saying I appropriated their content. Nope. Nothing is getting to me in this coat. It is lined with BS blocker kryptonite.
How much do you think I paid for this classic trench coat in leather?
Go ahead.
Guess.
Under $500?
Under $100?
Under $50?
If you guessed under $20 you’re right!
And you win…
Hang on…
A big hug the next time I see you!
Wohoo!
Don’t say I never give you anything.
I paid $19.99.
This is why I love thrifting!
Some deets on the coat, there are no holes, it is fully lined and I believe from the 1980’s.
Oh sure, if I had an extra bag of cash hanging around I could have bought this swish black trench coat in leather instead for a mere $1, 968 or go for one that is double breasted and on sale for $445.
But nope, I found mine thrifting.
For $19.99.
Did I mention that already?
Thrifting is a sport my friends and I won this round.
I must fly. Blocking BS is a full time job.
Do you own any clothing that makes you feel like you’re protected with magic armour?

That is an AWESOME coat and what a great find!!
I do have one! I have a fabulous Ivan Grundhal, full length, asymmetric coat that always makes me feel like a million bucks! It’s my guaranteed confidence booster! You’ve found a real treasure.

What a score Suzanne!! And you do look quite fierce in it (especially with the hats & boots!) I have an old one of my mom’s—but it’s suede, so I am limited when I can wear it! Luckily it doesn’t rain lots here in Denver! jodie

What a find, you look fantastic in this! The leather looks really supple and it fits you perfectly. That hat is rather special, too.
I’ve got a green leather 1970s number, I’ve had it for years and although I rarely wear it I absolutely love it.
xxxx
That is AH-MAZING! And the hat, I really love the hat! I’ve wanted a hat like that for ages but all the ones I’ve tried are so floppy I can’t see and walk into things!
That coat is a steal at about $20. It’s fantastic! Well done!

Fabulous coat!
Oddly enough, I guessed $20 because I figured if you were that stoked about it, you must have scored it for a song, so you owe me a hug when I see you 😉
I wanted a black leather trench coat for so long and never found one that checked all the boxes. That one fits you very well, and you do look like you could kick serious BS ass.
I’m shocked, shocked that you bought a leather coat. Hahaha. I think you farm them in your closet and you are afraid to tell us. That’s a very cool Trinity vibe you’ve got going on. I feel your power, for the low, low price of 19.99, of course priceless.
I especially love that BS Blocker! And to think, I was putting it on my nose all this time. I need some of that stuff. Extra extra strength! QUICK.
So sorry you’ve been through the wars!
The Universe knew you needed some help…ta da…leather coat.
They are the best in rain and wind. Nothing is getting through this baby!
I had one but it sqeaked too much so I redonated it.
Leather anything is a score thrifting.
Although I met a vegan woman who was turning herself inside out trying to determine that boots she loved and fitted WEREN’T leather. I don’t get it. More plastic? The last thing this world needs!
Sending healthy hugs xo Jazzy Jack

Wow – I need to go thrifting with you. Beautiful coat, and it looks great on you. Sorry you’ve had a rough week – hope the weekend is better! BTW – Three Wishes was pretty good, but not my favorite Liane Moriarty book. Worth a read if you’re looking for something light.
I don’t have any clothes which make me feel like Wonder Woman BUT my shoes do that for me 🙂 I swear, my shoes are loaded with super powers. Oh but there are a few songs which work the same way as your trench, Suzanne. Titanium. Fight Song. Here Comes A Fighter. Drums Make Me Happy. Something In The Water. Rise Up. Something New.
And how dare anyone accuse you of misappropriating content??? Pish posh, I say.
A thrifting find like this is a shopper’s high like no other! It’s fabulous, Suzanne! You look badass and elegant at the same time!
Thanks so much for linking up with Fun Fashion Friday & have a fab weekend!

P.S What does a blogger saying you appropriated content actually mean??? Call me a numpty (you would not be the first) but I have no idea. X
She says I stole her idea, stole her content and called it my own.
Dang, you look like some sort of cool crime-fighting superhero. The price is probably just slightly more amazing than the coat, however. Amazing find! I would totally feel awesome in a coat like that…except nobody would feel awesome if they wore a coat in this entire country since it will never be cold enough, barring a global ice age…
What a bargain! I love a good trench, but none of mine are the warmest, probably because they all have to be waterproof and it’s so rare to find a well-lined waterproof anything. Which is silly, considering where I live – you’d think they’d be all over that over here. I love the trench with the big hat – it looks so fab.
That’s impossibly lucky Suzanne … it’s LESS than €14.
The Italians haven’t understood how thrift shops should work yet; their culture is getting in the way. There are two schools of thought here.
IF they sell an item second hand they’ll probably do it through a second-hand market business (which won’t be a charity). The second-hand market owners will take 50% of the sale price to cover their costs. But as the seller wants to make the “bother” of selling it (cleaning/drycleaning/ironing etc) worthwhile, and they’ll want to EARN a reasonable amount of money on top, this all pushes the price up!
The other possibility is that people will donate items (usually to the local church). There’ll be a posse of volunteers who sort and display the donated clothes in a designated space, where “the poor” (usually immigrants from Africa and Eastern Europe) come and help themselves to as much as they want … FREE. It would be frowned upon for someone (eg me) to go looking for something there – even though I’d be willing to pay. The interesting/frustrating thing is that these are the places you can find the best quality items, because the people donating with no desire for gain, tend to be wealthier.
Enjoy your coat.

There is no difference between your coat and the Saint Laurent but the price haha.
What a fantastic buy! You thrift so well. Wear it with pleasure.

Girl…you are thrifting badass!!That is one major score, my friend!
Cool! I am picturing all kinds of spy movies in my head this outfit fits the bill.
I used to play spy when I was a kid. Growing up in America of course I was some sexy Russian double agent working with the Americans, always with a name like Katerina, Natascha, or something other. Of course Michael Baryshnikov always came to the rescue at the last minute if I couldn’t catch them through shear sexiness and espionage.
Hey I had the imagination I was alone a lot and watched a lot of TV what can I say:(
Come on we all did it, I am just crazy enough to admit it….
Very badass and fabulous look. Well found, dear!
Your thrifting skills are as fantastic as your styling tips! I only realized that my trench was too short for a skirt after seeing it on the photos, so it will go with bell bottoms next time. So much to learn about all this style. Why is it so tricky? 🙂
You look gorgeous, and forget about all those who hurt you! I know it’s easier to say than to do. But in such a trench, there is no fear of anything, for sure!
Okay, that is an amazing thrift find!
Also- bloggers accuse you of stealing their work? Um, this is so confusing to me. Every single post you make has, well A) YOU in most of the photos and even more importantly, B) every single post is infused with your personality. There’s no way anyone could ever imagine anyone but Suzanne wrote one word!
