I have a thing for Old Dutch Ripple Potato Chips.
A kind of love affair.
Ever since I was a kid when we would visit my Grandma's house she would have a big glass chip bowl with Old Dutch Ripple Chips in it and Philadelphia Sour Cream and Onion dip in the little bowl that hung on the side. Mmmmm….I can see it like it was yesterday…filled to the rim with the salty crisps.
The bowl looked like a bit like this…
As soon as we'd arrive I'd run up and find the best spot right in front of that ol' chip bowl and basically wouldn't leave. All of us kids did that because at home we didn't often have chips and if we did well my Dad ate most of them.
The best thing about Grandma's chip bowl? When it was getting low and you thought "oh no! they are almost all gone…(insert desperately sad unhappy face here)" Grandma Scott would come around and dump two fresh bags of chips in the bowl.
I'd died and gone to crunchy salt and saturated fat heaven.
To this day I still cannot have Old Dutch Chips in the house. If I do, I eat the whole bag. No questions, no sharing.
They are my kryptonite.
They cannot come into the house.
When my husband and I go shopping he will often try to sneak these in the cart. I tell him, "Don't you dare bring those in the house!" And give my best evil eye…and from all accounts it's a pretty wicked evil eye because they hardly ever make it home.
Do you have any serious food weaknesses?

Cool grandma and chip bowl.
My weakness is Cadbury mini eggs. Luckily they are only an annual treat 🙂
that’s a pretty sweet story, though! grandmas are the best! and that bowl…i never knew i needed one until now!
Yeah, it’s the chips. Every. Time. Great grandma story; thanks for sharing. So, ummm, that bowl looks a little empty.
My husband always has to have a dessert, so he buys pie or brownies, plus ice cream! I find it very hard to be strong with that kind of temptation. Chocolate is my downfall.
That chip bowl is so cool! I don’t remember my grandma having any special treats except maybe candy corn.
BTW, I got my main squeeze handbag at Target.
