You may have noticed that lots of my clothes are rich warm colors. Finding what works best for your skin tone and hair color is crucial to making sure your wardrobe not only looks good on you, but will also ensure that everything in your wardrobe will mix and match.
Generally people with darker skin can wear lighter brighter colors. Someone like me with very fair skin is better off with deeper richer jewel tones. We are looking for a contrast next to your skin…not something that blends into your skin. BTW…neon is not what we're looking for either. Just stay away from it. It's not attractive. Unless you're a road repair guy working at night do not buy neon.
You should be able to tell immediately when you try something on if the color is right or not…do you look bright and vibrant? or are you fading away looking pale and pasty?
The color of your hair will impact greatly upon what colors you can wear. When I changed my hair color from blond to red suddenly cold pinks and cold reds no longer looked good on me. Thankfully I didn't have too much of that in my wardrobe. I've stuck them in a corner of my closet should I decide to return to my blond roots one day.
A great place to start to understand your best colors choices is by looking in your closet now. What colors are in there that you wear often? What do you get the most compliments in when you wear it? What makes you feel and look vibrant? If you have no color in your wardrobde why not? Wearing all black or neutral is simply old, boring and lazy. Step into the 2012 with confidence and color. Once you know your colors it'll make shopping much easier.
