When I lived in France I got a real feel for the lovely way that the French can wear a scarf. They look effortlessly stylish. Just a little "something" they grabbed and threw around their neck on the way out the door.
I'm apt to look more British than French when I wear my scarves however I don't let that deter me. I still love the way a scarf can make an outfit complete. I could see me wearing this outfit on a trip to Bordeaux in the Fall for some wine tasting…(sigh).
This photo below was us several years ago when we did go on a horseback/wine tasting tour in Bordeaux. Genie, genie please take me back there!
I see I was wearing a scarf here too.
Wearing scarves can sometimes visually make you look shorter and heavier. If you have a long thin neck you can wear pretty much any scarf and wrap it as many times as you like around your neck and it'll still look good. If you have a shorter neck like me you need to be careful to make sure the scarf isn't too large or thick and don't wrap it too many times around the neck. Showing part of your neckline will always make you look taller and thinner. Closing off your neck will have the opposite effect.
