When I’m sucked into the vortex of buying retail I need to prove to myself that it is worth it.
Too many times when I shopped retail I’d come out with a full outfit. While this is fun it isn’t very practical. Ideally each piece I buy should work seamlessly with other pieces I own. This is especially true if I’m stepping out of my colour zone and trying something totally weird wild, like radioactive neon yellow.
In the past I’ve only owned a few yellow pieces but this year I’ve been drawn to it like a pug to food.
The soft pastel yellow that I’m wearing here from a few years ago is easy on the eyes…a stepping stone if you will for people that aren’t used to wearing yellow.
This yellow skirt from Anthro just had a bit of yellow in it. Another baby step towards wearing more yellow.
I added a few iron on embroidered patches to make this yellow double breasted fall jacket unique.
This is my favourite shade of yellow, a warm golden yellow. This is the shade that works well with my complexion.
Recently I was drawn to this Anthropologie skirt.
Okay…I stalked the skirt online like an obsessed fan for about 8 months so when it went on super sale a week ago I snapped it up.
Please don’t tell me to get a life. I already know that behaviour is completely insane totally normal for a style blogger.
Did you notice anything?
The yellow is getting colder and brighter. Further away from the tone that works with my skin.
Five Reasons To Buy Neon Yellow Boots
Finally I crashed through any remaining barriers when I saw these insanely bright basically glow-in-the-dark neon boots.
They’re cray-cray right? Suddenly cray-cray was perfect for my wardrobe.
I don’t know why.
The bright yellow is far enough away from my face to avoid triggering migraines.
I knew instinctively no matter what I’d pair them with it would look fresh so I paired them with vintage, of course.
Mixing up different eras of clothing adds visual interest, plus it’s just plain fun!
I thought they would be comfortable and I was right.
They go on like socks, they don’t emphasize my man legs and they elongate my body.
Check, check and check baby!
Here they are with a dress soon to be listed in my Etsy shop.
Now again with a groovy vintage 1970s maxi dress that is also going to be available for purchase soon.
But my favourite of all my looks with these electric yellow boots is this incredible vintage plaid wool jacket.
How excited was I when I found this coat?
This is me saying, “Yaaaaaasssss!”
This wonderful vintage jacket will NOT coming to the Etsy store soon.
Ha ha! This will be added to my private collection for a bit.
It is too damn incredible not to wear. Especially now that I have the electric boots!
I’ve been itching to write a post about coats since I saw the movie Atomic Blond. Did you see it? I’ve become obsessed with the insane style in that movie. I’ll save it for another post but I *may* have something being custom made for me and coming all the way from Russia with love. (No joke and no hints!)
So I think that I’ve proven to myself that the yellow boots deserve a spot in my shoe closet.
Do you also ensure items you purchase with work with what you already own?
PS You are going to be seeing a whole lot more of these boots in the future, they were so comfy I bought them in red too!
Linking up with the lovely Patti over at Visible Monday.
Ok, I am literally drooling over here. Love the neon yellow boots can’t wait to see them over and over .. And then in red too! Just like I am loving the blue velvet!
Love the printed pants, the gobsmacking sheath dress and that fabulous maxi,
You are killing it Suzanne!

I LOVE THE YELLOW SHOES!!!!!!!
Obviously you needed the boots. Look how many outfits you got out if them! It’s very cost-effective, an excellent reason to get something. If the item you want can make so many clothes (and you, of course) happy, then it would be crazy not to get it.
I’m a locigal-rational person, very analytical. I always need to justify purchases in rational grounds. I’m very good at it…
I love them! Happy boots. If I really fall in love with something I buy it, but sometimes this does mean I have to buy another piece to make it ‘work’ with my existing wardrobe. On very rare occasions something gets ejected because it is so incompatible! Xx
Okay, I cannot tell you how pleased I am to hear someone else mention Atomic Blonde. To me, it was everything Wonder Woman was not, and it was seamless–costumes, music, tone–a work of art. The fashion, omg, the fashion.
You already know I think those boots are divine and have found the person with whom they can make fashion magic. They’d be great on a rainy day–your feet would be the sunshine.
Yellow shoes are the best way to add life to any outfit—like you have shown perfectly in all of these examples!! Who knew that the color you don’t like, could be the color that grows on you (like moss—right?)

Good for you! Yellow is a beautiful color and these boots are rad. Super-stylish. And versatile with your many colorful outfits. Also love the phrase “like a pug to food.”
OMG… I’m obsessed! I can’t wait to see you style the red ones too!
You’ve got me searching for canary yellow boots now, yours add a whole new lease of life to your wardrobe.
That pom pom trimmed skirt is gorgeous! xxx
Yeah Baby!
Nothing more cheerful than a bit of zingy yellow! Those boots are a great buy, and my favourite look is definitely the one with the plaid wool jacket. How amazing is that coat! No wonder it’s a keeper. I am seriously in love and will be scouring the local vintage and charity shops for something similar. That said, as I usually buy with my heart and not my head, I tend to pick up things I haven’t the slightest idea what to wear them with. xxx
These boots totally deserve a post, yes! I loved the boots, and I love yellow! I don’t have many yellow pieces, but it s changing, when I discovered that it was the favorite color of my father 🙂 I loved the Anthropologie skirt that you waited to buy for some months – well done! I loved the jacket with embroidery and the top with the floral pants, one of my favorite outfits today. But you are right, the wool checked coat with the boots is an unbeatable outfit, inspiring! You are always so gorgeous! Hope you have a great week! Bisous!

The shot of you in the Anthropology skirt is exquisite Suzanne and it’s closely followed by the darling plaid coat. Oh my, are you becoming more beautiful with age? Probably.
Yellow is such a happy, cheery, tra la la color. But your brilliance gives it a run for the money!!
Cannot wait to see what you wear with the red ones …..
I looooove the last outfit with the boots!!!! That jacket is FABOO!
You’ve probably seen me say this before but I used to hate yellow and orange and would never buy anything in those colours. I don’t know why but since I’ve retired – three and a half years now – I suddenly got the hots for yellow and orange and any items in those colours on the rails in the charity shops are the ones I head for first…
I love your neon yellow boots and I love them especially with the maxi skirt and the fab plaid jacket!
xxxx
They ae a swell purchase. They make everything 2017 and look so good on you. I say, money well spent. I might check them out myself (I have no objection against retail. Please don’t hate me for it.)
The Anthropologie skirt is divine. So pleased for you, you could lay your hands on it.
This is a very happy post.
Oh yes, and I agree about the checked jacket. Wonderful.

They’re wicked! Love! And the Anthropologie skirt. Can see why you stalked it.
I have fallen in love with your yellow boots and, consequently, each amazing outfit you’ve put together with them!
I have a similar thought process I use when purchasing items… the rule of three..i have to be able to imagine three different ways i could wear the item with existing things in my closet, so i know it’s a worthwhile purchase.
At last, here I am finally catching up with this post after your taster on Instagram and boy, aren’t they sensational! The pop of neon is working across the whole gamut of outfits and I have to agree that the skirt and boot combination is knockout. I love how you kept the best til last and show how utterly versatile these beauties are.
After seeing these you tipped the balance for me from just fancying the red version of these from H&M into finally buying them. They arrived last week and, like you, I love them!

I love the last two outfits!!! The boots are amazing with the black printed maxi-dress and the plaid jacket! I completely see why you’ll be keeping that jacket for a while too. 🙂
It’s always fun to branch out and try new things with fashion too- fashion should be fun!
Nice blog! If your ever looking to sale that plaid vintage coat, I wouldn’t mind taking it off your hands, please let me know! ❤️️
