Due to holidays I will be continuing my 10 Wardrobe Essentials series the week of Jan 21st and Friday's Top Five the week of Jan 14th.
So these photos were obviously taken before we got hit with the snow storm after Christmas.
I decided to try layering some shirts together like all the "big time" bloggers do. I was worried since I'm not thin and wasn't sure this look would work on me. Normally you need to look more like a clothes hanger for this to work and often layering can just make you look bulky. I'm happy with this though and even better, it's comfortable. Well I won't lie. I won't be walking a mile in those shoes and frankly they are impractical now that the snow has arrived but pairing the whole look with heeled booties if I have to walk a while is totally doable.

I’m not the biggest fan of layering as a look…but these days, I do it all the time, because it’s the best way to stay warm enough when it’s cold outside! I love the combo of plaid and polka dots, though–that’s one of my favorite pattern mixes!
Beautiful outfit, you look amazing! Great combo of polka dot and this flannel shirt, great style. Happy New Year!

Lovely! The colors are all great together. And I don’t know what you’re talking about when you say you’re “not thin”. Your beautiful!

Love love love this. I always wonder the same thing about layering too – I think it looks so great on some people, and when I try it, I feel like the little brother Randy in A Christmas Story when his mom is getting him ready for school and he looks like he’s going on a deep-sea diving expedition. You, however, do NOT look like that. You started off the new year with a bang, milady.
in love with this outfit in every possible way! really!
i didn’t realize it was layered at first because it looks so slim instead of the usual bulky that i always end up with. i’ve started putting a fitting tank between the 2 to help slim it.
anyway, it’s awesome and im happy to be following you via bloglovin’.

This looks great on you! I have the same bulk-factor fears, but maybe you’ve inspired me to reconsider.
Lovely necklace you’ve made, too!
I agree…layering is helpful in the winter months. Thanks for popping by : )

I think this is great and you look great, and I love the pop of color in the heels. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Katie : )
Thanks Josie…everyone has their own idea of what “thin” is I guess. Mine is when I get to that seemingly impossible goal weight that I’ve had now for 4 years that I’ve never been able to achieve. I will add though that I’m only 7-9 lbs away from it depending on the time of the month but it just doesn’t seem to happen. Sigh.
LOVE the whole look! I’m running to your Etsy store now 🙂

Ha ha! you make me laugh Rebecca. Enjoy the snow! Only someone from The Peg could have such an optimistic outlook on winter : ) Me….I’m planning to escape the snow tomorrow…for Antigua for a week. That is my best coping mechanism for the snow.
Thanks Lynne : ) I think we both agree…winter sucks.

I do love those shoes….just wish they were comfy. Style shouldn’t need to be painful.
