I'm lucky enough to have my girlfriend coming out for another couple of days today.
We will be hitting the consignment stores and then tomorrow head downtown for an installation art exhibit by Mike Nelson, supper and a play, Metamorphosis.
Last week when she was out we squeezed in lunch out… we did have croissant sandwiches too…not just dessert. Although sometimes life is better when you start with dessert.
These petits choux were so good that I actually dreamt about them 2 days ago! LOL
I dreamt I was in France telling two girls that I met that my diet was strictly petits choux (cream puffs).
They were quite impressed.
If only!
We shopped at Anthro
This blouse (that I'd pinned a while ago) is my Christmas present from my girlfriend.
Sweet! Thanks girlfriend!
I couldn't leave this recipe book behind. There is a recipe for les petits choux!
It's like it read my mind.
I also scored some floral jeans and a beaded clutch all on super sale. Pretty much the only way I'll buy stuff from Anthro anymore.
Then a bit more shopping because we couldn't get into this great photography exhibit. I curse you Royal Ontario Museum! Shame on trying to charge someone a King's ransom just to see the photography exhibit.
You and the coat check gal that refused to give us our money back after the coats had only been there for 3 minutes when we realized we weren't willing to pay $45/person for a 30 minute exhibit.
Whatever.
On the bright side I never would have found these lovelies
Or these.
Or this…
After all that hard work we needed a break and headed straight to the rooftop bar for some well deserved libations.
Then it was off to supper served in another museum (thankfully not overcharging) with a play afterwards, Tuesdays With Morrie. Have you read that book? Not a dry eye in the house. So fun to see the play in such an intimate historic space. There were probably only 30 people in the room with the 2 actors. Very intense and emotional.
The next day we took in one of the best art exhibits I've seen in a while. Mary Pratt. A realist painter from Canada. Brilliant.
I can't say enough about her.
I could have spent the entire day in that exhibit, marvelling at her skill, but we had to hurry back to our spa appointments.
Yeah…it's a tough life but someone has to do it.
This is as close as I get to the celebrity lifestyle.

So you can see why I'm excited for another girls get together today.
Aren't girls days the best?
What is your favourite thing to do when you get together with your girlfriends?

Oh, I love the new boots and your new blouse!
Girls days are the BEST !
Oh, that sounds like so much FUN!
You have me wishing I was one of your girlfriends! Seriously.
Anthro is terrific. People complain about the prices being too high but that never stops me. Plus, they always have a sales-rack in my store which I haunt. You look nice in these clothes.
My favorite thing to do with girlfriends is to sit over a meal and talk. Really talk. Burrow into each other’s lives and learn what’s going on deep inside. That kind of intimacy is so gratifying.
Thanks Ally : ) I am quite good at having fun. I don’t know why I can’t make a career out of it.
We do a fair amount of the serious chatting too. I’m big into laughing so making sure we get in lots of that really helps keep the wrinkles away.
You should have been here Kristian : )
I love everything you bought. And girls days are indeed the best. I have lots of girls days, spent exactly the same as you did. (With less museum and exhibitions. Usually do that with my husband and not often enough.) in March I will be off to Geneva where one of my two best friends lives. And today I spent the day with the other one. Talking, shopping, eating, coffee. When you do this a lot (as I do), it is hard when the time comes to go on two diets: moneywise and foodwise. Those days have arrived (long overdue).

Oh- I’m Jealous of you getting to see the Mary Pratt exhibit- one of my favorites- (also jealous of the cream puffs;)
That skirt is just gorgeous, it’s making my heart race with abject lust – as is those glorious boots and that stunner of a blouse!
How much for an exhibition? That really is scandalous!! xxx
What a wonderful day out! your lovelies you got are awesome, the boots! gorgeous!you do look stunning in your outfit, and I have never had a croissant sandwich, must sort that out pronto – also could not believe the exhibition price *shocked face* x x x
Suzanne what a gorgeous outfit you’re wearing! I just love all the fashion pieces, especially the flower pattern pencil skirt and the adorable bow belt and clutch 🙂 xoxo

Wow is all I can manage to type at this time!! The skirt is stunning to say the least. What a dream day you had…all the lovely finds, the pastries, girl time with friends, art exhibits, etc. You are living the dream friend!
anything that includes shopping, drinks, and a spa day sounds like a perfect day to me!!! enjoy your round two!!
Those shoes are fantastic! I love a solid pop of colour at the end (or start, depending on how you look at it) of an outfit like that. It’s akin to an exclamation mark and helps ties a look together so stylishly.
Have a beautiful Wednesday,
♥ Jessica
Adorable skirt, even more with the pop of blue shoes.
loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
That is a really beautiful skirt, you look very long and lean and elegant!
Your girls’ day out sounds excellent (apart form the overpriced photography exhibition) and I am in love with the boots you found.
Depends which girls are involved as to what I do with them; whoever it is though, there is always loads of laughing. And usually alcohol… xxx
I love you always but best of all in glasses and pencil skirts. And oh my what a skirt that is. Gorgeous.
Man I need a day like that. Minus the snotty coat check girl. You do look great in the pencil skirts.
You DO look great in a pencil skirt. I’m jealous of your girlie day. I want to do all of the minus the snotty coat check girl.
Hahaha, I miss you, Greetje!
Wow, your girlfriendtime sounds and looks awesome. What you bought, did, saw, ate and drank seems enough to fill a week. In my book, that is.
And I love your ‘dream’-diet. Funny that I have been fantasising about that. Like: if only I could eat and drink all I wanted without getting obese or worsening my diabetes!
Croissants, fries, cocktails…here I come!
I absolutely love Mary Pratt! She is insanely brilliant! I’d love to see her work again! Maybe she is working her way west.
Hahaha…now I better understand where your dream came from. And those petit choix do look yummy! Wow, what a perfect day…well minus snooty coat girl…but still, it sounds as though you had a super time!
OMG – $45 for an art exhibit?! That’s outrageous. But the Mary Pratt works were definitely worth seeing – glad you didn’t miss that one. Everything in this post is gorgeous – your skirt, the boots, the shoes, the cocktails, the petits choux, the paintings… did I miss anything?
What a great day! Shopping and art, it don’t get any better than to spend a day with a friend doing fun things. I love the boots and all your finds.
blue hue wonderland
The Anthro blouse – gorge! And dessert first, why not?! ;o)
I love your girls day out outfit – the skirt is gorgeous! My favourite thing to do with the gals is shopping and eating, especially afternoon tea.
Nothing like a girls day…too bad we don’t live near each other, I would love to go shopping with you! I don’t know what I like more…the blouse your friend got you, the boots, or the skirt you’re wearing. And what an awesome girlfriend to give you such an excellent gift!

Yes, girlfriend days are the best! My favorite thing to do is obviously have them over for a party and linger as long as they want. My second is to do lunch and shop until we’re hungry for dinner. We defintely need to plan one of these get togethers. I travel a lot with my husband, so let me know what part of the world you are in.
A trip to anthro with a girlfriend is about as good as it gets.
And, seriously $45 to see that art exhibit? I would have backed out also.
I’m in Toronto, Canada. Do you ever get up this way Trina? Would love to see you! It would be so great to have a blogger get-together somewhere that we could all meet in person.
My girlfriend and I are going for afternoon tea together today! : )
It was a good shopping day : ) and yes I have the BEST girlfriend ever.
I agree…too bad we don’t live closer.
Right? ; )
Have you seen any of Mary Pratt’s work? Don’t miss it if you get a chance.
Oh yeah….the spa ; )
Think they look yummy? They taste 100 times better than they look. Silky soft explosions of flavour tucked inside a cloud. That is what they are. I could write a sonnet about petits choux! LOL
I wouldn’t do well with diabetes. You must have to be so controlled. No wonder why you are so lanky.
Yeah…she really put a damper on that part. Luckily there were martinis to put us back in a good mood.
I have an addiction to pencil skirts, leather coats and boots.
Laughing + alcohol = Fun!
Thanks Jessica : )
I agree…it is so hard to limit one’s self…especially with girlfriends. How fun for you to get away in March.
Thanks girlfriend!
Right back at you girlfriend and neighbour.
With a bit of luck Geneva is not going to be much of a shopping challenge. They are a bit old fashioned there. Or very expensive.
Sounds like such fun times (except for overpriced museums and bad coat check girl). I read Tuesday with Morrie years ago. My husband and I saw the play right after his grandfather passed away. It was a very emotional play for us since it was a bit close to home. HIs grandpa was such a great influence to my husband.
