Remember my post from 2 days ago about styling vintage palazzo pants?
Well I have a pair of similar (not vintage) pants I bought last year from BCBG.
Here is me missing the mark last year when styling them.
I did three things wrong here…
Wore it with a loose top.
Didn't define my waist.
Pulled the waist down so they would be longer, in turn giving the illusion of a longer torso and shorter legs.
Bad.
Bad.
Bad.
Here is me doing a much better job.
Pretty big difference right?
If you're doing loose on the bottom go tight on the top.
Otherwise you just look like a beatnik wearing PJs.
Placing the belt at the narrowest part of my body gives the illusion of very long legs and a small waist.
Pants – BCBG, Shoes – Nine West, Handbag – Anthropologie, Peplum top – Zara, Flower brooch – White House Black Market, glasses – Firmoo
This may look like a skirt but I promise you these are super comfy palazzo pants with little arrows on them.
I love that pattern. So unexpected and whimsical.
The vintage palazzo pants I showed you before had very high waists which is important when wearing this style.
What do you think?
Would you try this look?
You styled both outfits beautifully I thought! I actually prefer the first outfit, you’re quite slim so a defined waist isn’t always necessary.
Anyway, it’s what you FEEL best in that counts, after all.

They are great pants, I do like both of the ways you styled them though! you do always look wonderful, the owl bag is adorable – I’m not big on pants and wear them very rarely, I prefer my dresses x x x
I do like the defined waist better though the other way isn’t a bad outfit either!
Oh yeah, the 2nd way you styled them is definitely better! I don’t think I’d wear this style…I have the slight feeling Angel would hate it on me which does influence me occasionally…
I do like the second one better, lovely blue top.
These posts are helpful. You have good eye. Even with your tips, I think the look would be wrong for me.
I love both looks! The second one looks very slinky and glam but you look supremely cool in the first one, too. How cute is that owl bag? Very! x
Gorgeous! I love this look on you! Would wear it myself, but hubby dislikes it. Not that I dont wear anything he doesnt like, but it does make it less fun for me.
Yes I see the difference. Good post! Love the blue top and your hair looks great.
blue hue wonderland
I actually like the first outfit, too. : )
But then I scrolled down and you are right! The second styling is so fab. You look stunning. Your waist looks teeny tiny. And that owl bag?! When was that from? I have stalked Anthro for fourteen years. I cannot remember it! The broach is so good, too!

Is this really the same pair of pants? Wow, what a difference this makes. This look is Amazing! So glamorous and stylish and righ on the money. Everything is just perfection. I would have done the same thing (trying to make them longer) yet pulled at the waist like they were made to be worn and adding heels and those lacing tights, actually lengthens them ten fold. I also can’t think of a better color to pair those with than cobalt blue, especially next to your gorgeous hair color.
I still want that owl bag!
This is really cute…the arrows are so on point for a little low key Valentine’s theme if you wish. I like this defined waist and pops of blue!
Well done!
Yes, the second look is better, and I love the addition of blue. I’d love to find some palazzo pants – I bet they’d be so comfy in the summer especially. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for a pair as wide and wonderful as these!
Awesomely gorgeous! Love the blue on you. You look seven feet tall.
I have to say I like both looks, Suzanne. The second one is more glamorous, I agree, but the first has a casual chic to it; with the Breton stripes, I am reminded of Coco Chanel. Loving the owl bag and the wavy hair too! xxx
Now this is nice!! So you are a very good stylist and sometimes even you get it wrong? I apologize in advance, for finding this comforting. This look is very nice. Love the flower on your shoulder as well. Great colours too.

Forgot the mention the fantastic owl bag. How could I?
Your rules to wear palazzo pants are right ! To wear a tight top with wide trousers is what I also do…in your case I like both the outfits (and are wearing a lovable hat!! You are very cute!!)
I don’t think you missed the mark on the first look but the 2nd one is probably better fitted for you. The first outfit looks very laid back and the other one is so polished. I don’t own a pair of palazzo pants because I have no idea how to style them. You are tempting me to give it a try.

You did a fantastic job with this <3 I know I'm kind of crazy when it comes to prints, but I really like both of these looks. I don't see anything catastrophic with either (though, I agree that the first look might have been better with the skirt worn higher and the shirt pulled down a bit more underneath). Also, I love that the pants look like a skirt. It makes for such drama when you stride. I've always wanted to try out pants like that, but I just don't know if I can pull it off. I'm not refined enough. Haha.

Thanks for the tips! I got a cute pair of pallazzos for xmas, and altho i cant wear them till it gets warmer, i am lookinf forward to styling them!
Well I can assure you that at the time that I put that first outfit together I felt pretty good…but body image changes and I think that looking back now I prefer the second outfit.
I agree that if you are very slim you don’t always need to define your waist. If however you have bigger boobs I think it looks better. Otherwise you can add quite a bit of weight to your frame.
Until I lost a bit of weight this year I hardly ever wore any pants other than a couple of pairs of favourite well worn jeans.
I do find that dresses are easier to wear, more fun and flatter the figure more.
I could see you in that first version Kristian : )
Ha ha! Yep, I don’t think your man would care for this.
Thanks girlfriend : )
It is good to know what works and what doesn’t. Saves you time in the fitting room! : )
A quick little story about that bag. I spotted it in Beverly Hills Anthropologie store, quite a few years back. I LOVED it. It was the first time I’d been into an Anthropologie store and was totally overwhelmed. It was quite expensive, over $250 I think, so I didn’t buy it.
I got back home to Canada and realized I’d made a big mistake. That bag hadn’t left my thoughts. So I called the store and tried to get them to ship it. They won’t ship anything to Canada.
So then I called a girlfriend of mine in the States and had her try to find it at a store near her. They called around and found one for an amazing $35!!! The price had come down that much.
She then shipped it to me.
I have used this bag non-stop. I love it : )
They have since closed that lovely Beverly Hills Anthropologie location and moved it elsewhere.
That is the little story on that bag.
Ah those men! : )
Thanks Ann : )
ha ha! I wrote the answer to the bag above. You Anthro stalker you!
If you lived closer you could borrow that bag : )
I think if you can find pants like this in a silk they would be very cool in the summer. These are polyester and I did wear them in the summer, but not on sweltering humid days.
If only! : )
Well if I remind you of Coco Chanel then all is good : )
Ha ha! You kill me Greetje. I have a feeling that our sense of humours would get along splendidly.
I’m a bit addicted to hats.
You are like my husband Alice…very impressionable : )
You are right. This look is so much better when you get it in action, with a breeze blowing. Very dramatic.
You could do this for your style…you’d just have to wear them with some graphic tee or graphic sweater and some boots maybe.
I can’t wait to see them Paula!
Hahaha…
your palazzo is very beautiful and it l;looks great on you
