Thanks to everyone for all your lovely holiday wishes. I hope you too had a fine time during the holidays.
It was refreshing to take a bloggie and online break. Felt a bit like the year 1999. Hard to believe that our lives weren't always controlled by texting, emails and social media.
Here we are in 2014 and this is what we wore out for New Year's Eve.
Technically it wasn't really New Year's when we wore this, since our flight had been delayed and we were flying back home from Florida, but we wore this out this weekend to a "fake" New Year's Eve dance where we had not one, not two, but three New Year's Eve count downs.
Taken from countdown #2 I think…
Thankfully I didn't age three years in one evening but I have lived through nights where the next day I did feel and look like I'd aged three years. Haven't we all been there?
I wore my 1960's vintage orange Gale Mitchel gown.
I will admit it wasn't easy to dance in this, but oh how I loved wearing this gown.
Husband wore his pinstripe suite. I told him I wanted to dance with James Bond and this was like a modern version.
I still want to find a classic tux for him. Tuxes are so sexy! Don't you think?
Although this Hugo Boss suit is very sexy too.
Note to self: never ever stand like this again. My head looks like it has been Photoshopped on my body. Not in a good Photoshopped way either. And did my face just gain 10 lbs? Definately NOT my good side.
Did you get dressed up and go out for New Year's this year?

Always the question–do you pick a dress you love for how gorgeous it is or a dress that’s good for dancing?? You guys both look great, of course! I went swing dancing on New Year’s Eve–but I chose the dress-down enough to dance comfortably strategy!
You look SOOOOO Glamorous!
But, I agree. It is so frustrating that dresses often are either good for dancing or looking great. That prize of prizes- one that it both!
Happy New Year’s!
You two look great, seriously great! I love the dress and his suit is right on.
blue hue wonderland
You look gorgeous. I can see why you loved wearing your beautiful dress. And yes, don’t men look good in a tux? Happy New Year, love Liz xxx
Hope your year is off to a great start!

It seems you had a lot of fun, and a fake New Year’s Eve dance sounds very amusing!
Your dress is lovable and your shoes…just wonderful!! Happy New Year Suzanne! ( glad to see you back!)
WOOF!! You are both looking SO hot!
I’m in love with your gown!!
Happy New Year, lovely! XXX
You look amazing! That dress is so stunning and unique. You look like a modern Audrey Hepburn!
awww..such sweet photos! Lookin’ gorgeous!
Happy 2014!!
All the best in the new year!

nancy
Ooh, glam and gorgeous – both of you. Love that dress!
Wow, you both look gorgeous and very happy too! How lovely to see!
For dancing, often a split, all the way up to the hip;-) does the trick.
I wore a mini-skirt, by the way. Different climate, right?! Then again…you apparently were in Florida, so you had nice weather also. So we both celebrated in warm weather? Nice!
Hot couple alert! You guys look like some big shots here!
Smashingly stellar New Year’s ensembles, both of you. I adore that greeted the start of a fresh year in such a vibrant, feel good hue. Orange should be the official colour of this holiday, if you ask me!
Have am amazing 2014, lovely lady!
♥ Jessica
It would have been super hard to swing dance in this. We mostly waltzed and free styled.
Can you believe he bought that 2 years ago the day after Christmas on boxing day? You don’t have it in the States but here the day after Christmas is the really big shopping day. This suit is one of my all time favourites of his. Just a bonus it was on super sale.
Well, aside from the horrible weather it is starting off well! Thanks Kacie!
Thanks Dan : )
I picked up those shoes when we were in Florida at Nordstrom Outlet. So funny that they happened to work out perfectly with the dress when I got back home.
Happy New Year!
I knew you’d appreciate this frock : )
I was kind of going for “Old Hollywood Glam” so I’m glad that came across here. It was a real battle getting my hair to perform but I’m glad I persevered and managed to put it up. I think it suits the dress.
Thanks Patti : )
Happy 2014 to you too Nancy!
Happy New Year Liz! thanks for popping by.
Thanks Kristian. I would say that, heck, it only took me a couple minutes to put this look together but it was definately some work. I’m glad my effort paid off.
A sexy split all the way up the side is perfect for dancing…especially the Tango. This dress had only one very small slit in the back, thus why I call it my wiggle dress. I literally had to sit on the side and then swing my legs around to get in and out of the car! It was quite the spectacle.
Mini-skirts are perfect when you have legs like yours and live somewhere so hot and humid.
We were actually back here for New Years, but I can tell you that the weather wasn’t nearly as warm as we had hoped it would be when we were in Florida.
This is definately my best effort at a red carpet look. Now if I could only find some red carpet to walk down : )
Orange is a colour that I never wore before when I was blond. Now that I’m red I am drawn to it constantly.
Happy New Year Jessica!
Wow, you two are SO gorgeous together. I love these pictures of you and your husband! Happy 2014 to you both! XO, Jill
You look gorgeous! Stunning dress, and I love the kiss – dreamy!
You two are such are gorgeous couple!!! That’s so awesome that your hubby was willing to get dressed up to re-create NYE! This dress is just stunning on you – you look like a goddess!!

Thanks Jill : ) Happy New Year!
He surprised me with that kiss : )
The best thing is that was the first time he went to that dance and he really enjoyed it so I have a feeling we might be able to attend more often.
What a hot couple you make! I’m loving your gown, yah for vintage on New Years! I think you both went all out and I for one appreciate it! I did dress up and go out for New Years nothing super fancy but I did make an effort;)
Xxoo
Oooo…I remember seeing that dress previously when you got it…it was made for you! Totally a Ginger dress. You two look hot!

The kiss picture is darling and truly looks like a vintage photo. You two look so suave and chic! I love that you wore a bright orange dress for NYE. Way to wear bold color and do something surprising and fun! We went out for drinks early on NYE and then came home early to watch the ball drop. So I started the evening in a slinky gown and ended it in pj’s. It was perfect, actually. 🙂
Liz
You two are an incredibly striking couple. The first photo is awesome. I can’t believe the dress – it couldn’t be more perfect.
Woo–you both looked like you stepped out of a glam 60’s spy caper!!! Gorgeous!!
Yep, my Ginger of Gilligan’s Island dress : )
Yep I did not look like anyone else at that party : )
Sounds like you had a good night too.
I have my girlfriend to thank for this dress. She refused to leave the store unless I went home with it. It became my birthday present. Oh yeah…she is a GREAT friend!
Thanks Tamera : ) Hope you are starting to feel better.
I would be finding some a New Year’s Eve glam date if I had that dress too. Wow, it is one beautiful dress but seriously, it looks as if it was special made just for you, talk about the perfect fit. Can’t believe you did your own hair, it’s the icing on the cake for the night. You and hubby make one gorgeous couple.
And this may surprise you (because i do enjoy dressing up), but for New Years Eve, we stay in and have friends and family over to play old fashion games. We cook steak and lobster but all wear very casual, even sweats, since we just sit around and play games. I guess it all started when our kids were little and we just never outgrew the tradition.
Did you TANGO in your TANGERINE gown? Haha. Who wouldn’t go out and party with a dress like that! Your arm candy is very dashing as well.
Thanks for joining in with my 52 Pick-me-up Pantone Party over on SpyGirl. You brighten the place up!
You look stunning! Head to toe! Oh yeah that dress is AMAZING! This definitely deserves place on your top outfits of 2013. I love the earrings and the gold accessories and the chiffon train, the train, oh the train – now this is glamour! Wish I’d spent New Year’s Eve with you! Hubby looking mighty fine too in his suit.
