Have you given in to wearing maxi skirts yet? They are as comfortable as wearing PJs.
They are great for fall as your legs stay warm. If it is extra cold you can layer some tights and boots underneath.
This is one of those pieces that I stumbled across while thrifting where it is entirely possible I let out a little squeal when I found it, a floral embroidered velvet maxi skirt.
Floral + embroidery? YES!
I’m telling you right now this will not be making an appearance in my Vintage Etsy store. Not until I tire of it at least.
Have you been watching West World? I’m addicted to that show and have a feeling I may have been inadvertently influenced by the costume design. Yes it’s western wear, but I’m talking more about the shapes of the clothing. A long skirt on the lower half and a tighter bodice is so flattering. I find it very feminine. It is a silhouette I repeat often.
I wore this out to a recent blogger meet-up where I had the chance to meet Deborah and Lona. It was great to meet some 40+ blogger’s from Ontario. There aren’t many of us out this way.
It was interesting as we each have very specific unique senses of style, totally different from each other.
Sorry folks, I was a very bad blogger and didn’t take any photos. None of us did. I guess we were all taking a day off.
Here are some other ways to style a maxi skirt for fall.
Pleated skirt on left currently for sale in my Etsy Store.
Olive Green Maxi Skirt In Suede For Sale – waist 27″
Some of these maxi skirts don’t fall all the way to the ground. It makes it much easier to walk, especially when going up or down stairs. They aren’t quite as elongating when worn a bit shorter but you are far less likely to do a face plant.
You’re preaching to the converted, sister! That latest maxi is bloody amazing, don’t sell that, it fits like it was made for you and is utterly magical with the velvet boots, pussy bow blouse and crazy owl bag.
All your skirts are gorgeous on you. xxx
Well yes Vix, you are my maxi skirt/dress icon : ) No doubt.
What a fabulous array of maxi skirts! Your latest acquisition is gorgeous – velvet is irresistible, I find! Love those velvet boots. The owl bag is so cute
All the maxi skirts look lovely on you and I particularly liked the one with orangey coin shapes on a dark background. Very elegant.
I don’t have a waist anymore – boo hoo – so tucking things in is something I rarely do, but finding things of the right length to sit on top of the maxi skirt is often difficult for me. I tend to buy tops that skim my middle and are usually hip length – which doesn’t always look right over a skirt – especially a maxi skirt.
As it’s almost the weekend I hope yours is good!

I hear you. Maxi skirts need the right proportions and the only way I get that (being a shorty) is by tucking them in.
The disappearing waist seems to be a real epidemic. I’ve lost mine a few times.
Oh, yeah, I love maxi skirts this time of year (and always)! Wonderful outfits; that first one really looks great! Fun stuff, and so comfortably roomy.
I really don’t have enough maxi skirts Suzanne is what this feature has made me realise! The latest addition to your collection is gorgeous and quite right that it won’t be in your shop for a long time. (I did zoom across for a quick browse when I saw the gorgeous peach coloured pleated maxi – oh what a lot of lovely tempation you have lined up there.)
I love the blue velvet boots too, in fact the whole outfit is fabulous, utterly fabulous! Food for thought here – thank you x

I’m surprised you don’t own more maxi skirts Anna. You and I have very similar tastes and body types (well if I lost an extra 15 lbs ha ha!)
I really think this one would look incredible on you…

I’m sad it is too small for me.
I am still admiring your lovely wall hanging!
I don’t own a single maxi skirt. How has that happened?! You look fabulous x
Normally I have my pink vintage couch in front of this wall but moved it for photos. It is rather awesome and saves me the hassle of painting it all on the wall myself.
I cannot believe you don’t own a maxi! Get on that STAT.
As someone who is constantly cold—I think this is perfect for the colder weather—I can layer upon layer under these beauties!!
Sign me up!!
That silver brocadish one you’re showing is fabulous!!

That silver one is very unique. It is made here in Toronto by some fashion brand I didn’t know. It really looks like crinkled metal and has a more body hugging fit.
Well you can see I took your post to heart….I bought that green one on your site!! I plan to do a blog series for the 3 of us wearing maxis in January!! Thanks!!
You really know how to style a maxi in a wonderful variety of ways Suzanne.
If I was still working I would probably be wearing the maxi to work on occasion. I have several and I really love the Bohemian vibe they evoke.
I haven’t seen Westworld but I can imagine getting swept up in the beautiful fashions of the period. Downton Abbey certainly tickled my fashion fancy!!
That new velvet floral embroidered maxi is a knockout!!! What’s better than velvet, flowers, and embroidery??!! You look quite beautiful in it. I see you gliding gracefully along a snowy street on your way to the theatre see the “Nutcracker” (or something equally cultured) with your husband.
This was a delightful post Suzanne!
Downton Abbey was such a great series. I was sad to see it go.
I’ve been enjoying Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries to quell my vintage fashion porn addiction.
Ooh, how pretty. You always look good in maxis. Before I wore one, I had many misconceptions about maxis which were all wrong. They are comfortable.
I am addicted to West World too! Every week it gets better and better, and I’m sad there are likely only three episodes left in the first season. I did like seeing Dolores transition from long dresses to snug-fitting jeans though.
I like the idea of Maxi skirts, and I have one wool patchwork one but they are not practical when you are getting on and off buses during the day, or sitting at a desk (they get stuck under the wheels on my chair).
It is getting better and better! This week’s episode was insane : )
Yes, they do manage to get stuck under office chairs.
🙂 Quite some fabulous styles, dear Suzanne!
is that beautiful colorful wallpaper part of your house? I adore it!!!
Have a very HAPPY weekend xoxo 🙂
It’s a wall tapestry I picked up from Society 6. I love it but just noticed there is a flaw in it. I am either going to need to paint it on my own or send it back and try to rehang the piece. I think I will try painting first. It was very difficult to hang!
You have such a fantastic library of photos of you in all your clothes, Suzanne. So much goes into your posts – I hope you never think it’s not appreciated. Really stunning. Too bad about the tapestry though. The paint solution sounds like your quickest option.
I only have a couple of maxi skirts. It’s shocking! I have more maxi dresses than skirts. I love that length because there’s such a great warm air curtain in the winter. You could wear wool PJ bottoms under there and nobody would even know. Heh. You might want to keep that velvet skirt.
I have so many favorites here, but the bright floral maxi skirt paired with navy is at the top for me. Love it! <3

Good grief Suzanne!
The gorgeous maxi’s just keep coming….wonderful styling.
I love how each look is unique and you never give the feeling of “sameness”.
Every look is fresh.
Those blue velvet boots are a delicious treat for the eyes, peeking under the maxi hem.
So cool.

You have a gorgeous collection of maxi skirts! I would wear leggings under mine in the winters in Michigan. I think at the moment I don’t own a single maxi skirt, although I have two maxi dresses. I’m not sure Angel will ever get over complaining when I wear long skirts–he still hates them, too bad for him because they’re awesome.
So beautiful, dear Suzanne, I loved the maxi skirts and the special one you showed, embroidered, is amazing! I love it, you look stunning! I also loved all the others you showed, especially a floral one you wore with a ta blazer! It’s so boho, it’s a style that I love very much! Really a beautiful style, you always show so beautiful pictures! I hope you have a very nice week ahead, bisous!

I prefer wearing a maxi skirt over jeans any day. Your collection . . . Wow!
I don’t know why i never think to wear my maxi skirts in fall – I guess because I think I’ll be cold, but tights underneath would be a great idea! I love your collection – each one so pretty and unique! We’ve been enjoying WestWorld too!
You have a tremendous amount of great long skirts and they all suit you so well. Which is of course why you bought them in the first place. Your new velvet embroidered one is a treasure. And I love your new wall. I hope painting it works. Agh well of course it will work. You are so skilled.

The great thing is I don’t need to pain the wall now : ) I have the wall hanging. So much easier and faster, even though it was difficult to hang it on my own.
