I am seriously thinking about taking this online photography class…

And I know what you’re thinking…
it’s not just because they have two pugs…
like my two pugs ; )
Have you ever taken an online course?
Did you like it? Did you feel you learned as much as in a “live” class?
Would you ever take another class online?

I love the Craftsy classes I take online. This class looks great for beginners like me. I’m interested to see what everyone else says. Thanks for asking the question!

I have done it, and learned a lot, but still learn “better” with humans around me. I think this is partly a generational thing though, and I am grateful for all the online learning that’s available. I took a Philosophy course at Yale (online, and not for credit). Now I can babble on about the meaning of death. Invite me to your next party!

I love the Craftsy classes I’ve taken too! In fact, I have a couple of their photography courses, but haven’t had the opportunity to look at them. I really need the basics, and I am taking a local community based photography class in May. I’m really quite excited about it. I’m certain that getting hands on help is just what I need to get out of the dreaming about photography phase.

I have not taken an online course before but this would be interesting since I would love to learn more how to really use my camera. I know another blogger that is taking an online course from http://www.clickinmoms.com and I can see the difference in her work. She post her weekly assignments online. Stephanie’s blog is http://prettyanddelectable.com. You don’t need to be a mom to join this forum and they seem to have a lot of good info out on it.
If you sign up, do share your experience.

I was thinking of taking that class, too. But I am on the fence. I am just not sure. I can do “auto” like nobody’s business!
It would be interesting.

When I just had my camera I went to a live class. No good. Too early. I did notknow the first thing about it and half the time I had no idea what the guy was talking about. I had to really be doing the stuff and make mistakes and learn little by little, and swear and go back to the shop and learn about another button.
My niece gave me two afternoon lessons (she is a professional photographer). Now I need somebody to give me more one-to-one lessons. That helps the best. There is so much to learn about photography. It is not something you can do because you have a good camera.. I found out the hard way.
But that one time when you know which wheels to turn and then the perfect picture comes out… You feel sooo proud. But boy oh boy what a road. Practise, practise, practise.

Oh yeah…remind me to forget to ask you to the party ; ) I bet you have them rolling in the aisles with that.

I’m going to check them out. Thanks for the tip Cassi.

If we don’t end up going away next week I think I will sign up. I probably won’t know till the last minute.
Suzanne says
I will Alice. Thanks for the tip on the other course.
Suzanne says
You and me both sista!
Suzanne says
Lucky you with your niece.
I’d be happy just know what the buttons on my camera do and be able to master the menus. That’d be a start. LOL

I have a good book and a good e-course (pdf), yet I am still no good. I got a bit further in understanding my camera and things like Aperture and such, but basically I still don’t really get it.
I love A Beautiful Mess and i bet their course will be good, but I’m afraid that I’m just not good in learning this.
Your pictures are always great, by the way. What would you like/need to improve?
