Oscar Party Ideas – I Won!
Did you watch the Oscars?
We had our annual Oscar party yesterday.
It started out with the red carpet looks except…ahem…who forgot to lay down the red carpet? Someone’s head is gonna roll!
Here I am schmoozing with one of the presenters in my last minute attempt to ensure a win.
My hand may or may not be on his butt.

We’re both wearing vintage. Robert is wearing a 1970’s tux jacket and I’m wearing a 1960’s beaded gown that I picked up from an estate sale.
This dress is really Old Hollywood glam don’t you think? The beaded neckline and sleeve caps are wonderful.
The earrings are clip-on vintage.
The ballots were filled out and the baby sized bottles of Prosecco were chilled.

Oscar Party Food
I made a couple of salads in glasses, some homemade gourmet popcorn, my own healthier version of Bits and Bites and a bouquet of cake and fruit pops. I created my own recipes after looking at other recipes on my Oscar Pinterest board or one of my other Pinterest recipe boards for inspiration.
The table was decorated with gold stars and I made fancy popcorn containers with rolled cardstock.
Then out came the first presenter for the evening…
Let’s see who won…
Holy cow! What a shocker!
I WON!
AGAIN!
For the record my four year winning streak continues! I guessed sixteen out of the twenty-four Oscars correctly. Here is the post where I gave my low-down on the films I’d seen.
The trophy I’m holding is my Blogger Of The Year that I was awarded from the wonderful and generous Ally over at Shy Biker. Thanks again lady!
Do you ever fill out Oscar ballots? It makes watching the Oscars so much more exciting!
Have you ever had an Oscar party or attended one? Did you dress up?

Classic Trench Coat Tips And BS Blocker
Lookie lookie what I found on my last thrifting expedition!
Oh yeah baby!
A classic trench coat in black leather.
Leather!
I’m feeling very Trinity badass in this.
4 Tips To Help You Choose A Classic Trench Coat
- Make sure it fits you correctly, sleeves falling to mid hand when arms are down, shoulder seams sitting directly on shoulders, appropriate length for your height, belt sits at waist.
- Consider your weather. Do you need a rain resistant coat? One with a removable lining for colder climates?
- Choosing the right length is important. Shorter trench coats are easier to pair with pants whereas longer trench coats will cover dresses and skirts.
- The colour is crucial. Neutrals will coordinate with all or most of your wardrobe. Pops of vibrant colour are exciting and fun but harder to pair with other clothing.
I’ve never been known for having a sweet disposition but when I wear this coat I feel positively fearless.
Nothing negative is getting in my way wearing this baby. No negative Nellies trashing on my style vibe. No winter storm warning trying to crush my hopes of an early Spring. No illness that has hijacked my week. No delusional blogger saying I appropriated their content. Nope. Nothing is getting to me in this coat. It is lined with BS blocker kryptonite.
How much do you think I paid for this classic trench coat in leather?
Go ahead.
Guess.
Under $500?
Under $100?
Under $50?
If you guessed under $20 you’re right!
And you win…
Hang on…
A big hug the next time I see you!
Wohoo!
Don’t say I never give you anything.
I paid $19.99.
This is why I love thrifting!
Some deets on the coat, there are no holes, it is fully lined and I believe from the 1980’s.
Oh sure, if I had an extra bag of cash hanging around I could have bought this swish black trench coat in leather instead for a mere $1, 968 or go for one that is double breasted and on sale for $445.
But nope, I found mine thrifting.
For $19.99.
Did I mention that already?

Thrifting is a sport my friends and I won this round.
I must fly. Blocking BS is a full time job.
Do you own any clothing that makes you feel like you’re protected with magic armour?
