European Vacation Travel Outfit #5 Reject – Before You Travel…Try On Your Shoes
This is part of my series of what I packed to go to Amsterdam for 10 days.
The weather is very unpredictable which makes packing a huge pain in the butt. Basically you need to be ready for cool, rainy, hot, humid, windy weather.
Easy peezy.
NOT.

I put this outfit together thinking it would work for a cooler day topped with a jacket.

The silver brogues that I absolutely love proved to be a problem. I wore them for a few hours and they started to bother my feet. Without socks it was highly likely I was going to get a blister should I try to walk in them for 8 hours.

The fastest way to ruin a perfectly good vacation is to walk around in ill fitting shoes.
Therefore, the outfit was rejected.
This is why I always try on all of the pieces I'm going to wear before I go away. Sometimes your body changes and or your personal tastes change.
Sometimes your feet are fussy.
I'm crossing my fingers my other footwear choices don't cause any issues. They shouldn't though since I've worn all of them for long periods previously. I don't take new shoes with me when I go on vacation. That is just asking for problems.
Do have any tried and true method of ensuring all of your travel footwear are perfect?
What To Wear On A Fat Day
We all have them.
Poor body image days.
Maybe they are right around the time when annoying Auntie Flo visits, or just because you’ve been indulging in too many graham wafers smeared heavily with peanut butter and topped with pieces of dark chocolate (mmmmm…peanut butter and dark chocolate are healthy…right?).
You still need to get dressed but you want to avoid looking like this dude.

Here are some hints on how to camouflage bloated bellies and what to wear on a fat day.
1. Don’t Wear Pants
See the Marshmallow Man? Yeah…he isn’t wearing pants and neither should you. Dresses are your friends on days like today. They won’t be squishing your already upset swollen organs. No form fitted wiggle dresses…I’m talking more of the fit and flare dress. The brilliant thing about a fit and flare is that the fitted part is well above the belly area, just below the ribs. Last time I checked my ribs don’t bloat…(hooray for small miracles) so all is good.

2. High Waisted Maxi Skirts Or Dresses Are Your Best Friends
These will cover up a multitude of sins.

3. Wear A Dress With An Empire Waist
Just below your boobs is the smallest part of your torso. Anything that emphasizes this will make you look thinner.

4. Wear Some Hot Shoes
We all know on a fat day you feel yucky and undesirable. Combat that by wearing your cutest/sexiest shoes or boots. It’ll make your legs look longer, you’ll feel taller and feel less squishy.

5. Wear Bold Patterns
These confuse the eye. You can no longer tell if something is bulging or not.

6. Wear A Peplum
AKA the “belly ruffle” these are great at hiding bulges but still define that you have a waist.

7. Wear A Long Jacket, Vest Or Cardigan
It will create a sleek long silhouette.

8. Wear Black
As much as I adore colour, solid black will make you visually disappear into a literal “black hole”.

9. Don’t Wear Sloppy Ill Fitted Clothing
This is a rookie mistake. You think, I’m feeling fat, I just need to wear something extra loose and big. The problem is that people can no longer tell where your body ends. Visually they think your body is taking up all of the space under that tent. In and instant you went from feeling 5 lbs overweight to looking like you swallowed a whole other person for breakfast. Keep some part of your outfit fitted or show your legs.

10. Wear Extra Bold Statement Jewelry
Statment necklaces or earrings bring all the attention up towards your face and away from the areas you are feeling sensitive about.
Added bonus… you will never need to ask, “Does this necklace make me look fat?”

Those are my tips when I’m feeling bloated and miserable.
Do you have anything to add?
