Never Too Old To Play Dress Up
As kids we knew how to play. Using our imaginations and letting ourselves go was easy.
Do you remember those days?
As adults we get caught up in being responsible and mature grown ups. When was the last time you gave yourself permission to play?
You’re Never Too Old To Play Dress Up
Get silly. Be weird. Above all…LAUGH!

You’re only going around this block once baby…best make it count.
A couple of weeks ago I went out to visit my family and some blogging friends for my birthday.
I decided we should have a night of playing dress up 1920’s style.
It was a BLAST!!! Nothing held us back from really letting go.

No, it wasn’t Halloween.
We were just having fun, looking marvellous playing dress up like we did when we were kids.
We may all be past the age of 40 but there is the spirit of an audacious sixteen year old drama queen living in each of us.

Part diva too.

Mel killing two birds with one stone…of course!

I could exercise like this all day!

Don’t invade my personal space.
Sometimes you feel like the walls are closing in on you.
What mischief have you been up to tonight ladies?
None of us cared one bit about the stares we got on the street.
In fact we revelled in them. More often than not people came up and told us all how wonderful we looked. People appreciated that we were out enjoying ourselves dressed to the nines.
If you haven’t seen it yet Sherry made a brilliant little movie of our evening and visit which includes Sherry and I doing the “Elaine dance”.
You can read Sherry’s full account of our meet-up here.

Playing Dress Up At Talize – The Adult Playground
We didn’t play dress up just once. Oh no! When it’s this much fun you do it again.
Although Sue wasn’t there for the 1920’s evening she was there when we took the afternoon to play dress up at Talize.
Thrift stores are a massive playground for becoming whomever you want to be.
Mel was supposed to be beige woman but decided in the end she couldn’t be all beige because it might kill her.

She was also Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman.
Sherry was Krystle from Dynasty with only one boob implant.
You know how that goes.

I was proof that the clothes really do make the woman.
Who would you buy a used car from? The woman on the left or the woman on the right?
I loved that lemon gown. If only I had a wedding to attend…
The three stooges.
Doing my impersonation of Molly Ringwald from Pretty In Pink.
Sherry doing Sherry.
I call this last one blue eyes, red lipstick.
When was the last time you had fun playing dress up?
If you liked this dress up post you might want to check out when I was in Holland with some other bloggy friends Anja, Sylvia and Greetje. I did in depth write ups on each of the ladies when I went to visit them and we also played dress up.

What is your favourite?
My most recent finds yet to be listed include an authentic Emilio Pucci dress (yay me!) and a Victoria Beckham dress that looks brand new.
I also came across a Valentino dress however I spent a good ten minutes trying to figure out how the heck it was meant to be worn. It was like a puzzle and I wasn’t sure I’d finished it correctly. When a dress needs an instruction manual it’s a pass for me.
Be sure to follow me on Instagram where I also share my latest vintage clothing discoveries…sometimes right when I’m buying them!
Have a great weekend!
