Strike A Pose Blogger Style
I’m back from a recent trip to BC where I met up with fellow bloggers Patti, Sue, Mel and Sherry.
It was so good to see these inspiring, vibrant and funny women again.
We may all be well over forty (some over 60) but we can be as crazy as any nine year old when the moment strikes.
“Wait! Is Mel really going to climb up on my shoulders?”
How often is it that you spot a bunch of band uniforms at a vintage store?
Not often enough if you ask me. We took full advantage.
Mel stopped for a small snack before we headed out.
Of course we made time for a bit of shopping.
We took a quick detour into Fleuvog to drool over some of the merchandise.
Stopped and visited Melanie’s favourite secondhand haunt, My Sister’s Closet.
Patti scored a great black leather jacket from the now defunct Canadian brand Danier.
Sherry is always prepared for the paparazzi.
“Dah-ling… be a dear, run along and tell James to bring the Rolls around front. I’m simply exhausted after trying on clothes and carrying around my own water bottle. It’s positively bourgeois.”
We also made a quick stop at one of Melanie’s famous alleyways in downtown Vancouver so we could strike a pose blogger style.
Someone forgot to tell me it wasn’t make friends with a post.
We discovered Vancouver alleyways are full of surprising delights.
Patti just realized she was standing too close to some unknown rancid clothing.
“Argh! I’m going to hurl!”
“How can I work in these squalid conditions?”
Patti has moved safely away from the unknown garbage. Such is the glamorous life of blogging and getting raw street shots.
Mel shows how to “strike a pose blogger style” using some construction equipment.
Mais bien sûr!
Proof that Melanie can make anything look good.
Sherry offered up some acting classes on how to go from, “I’m so delightfully surprised and joyful to see you!” to “The dog ate my winning lottery ticket!”
We of course made our annual trip to visit Talize.
This is the reality of thrifting with me…my cart is always overflowing, although not all of this was mine…I think.
We spotted some bridesmaid’s dresses and felt an impromptu wedding was in order.
Doesn’t everyone do that?
Did you notice the fun doggy purse Mel was holding and the oversized flowers idea that Gucci obviously STOLE from us for their 2019 resort collection?
Sometimes it hurts to be so very far ahead of the curve.
Check out Patti’s feet!
So fun!
More shots of thrifting finds.
I love Patti in this jumpsuit with the floral combat boots.
Did you see Sue peaking her head out of the fitting room?
Ha!
This orange strapless dress was another one that got away. Seems like every time I visit BC I find a ballgown that fits me perfectly like the yellow one from last year and then I have to leave it behind because I don’t have enough room in my suitcase nor any events to wear it to, other than blogger meet-ups that is! The irony isn’t lost on me folks.
This is us on our way back from thrifting…who has the biggest bag?
We all met via blogging. I consider these ladies my dear friends and when friends meet up no subject is off limits.
You may think we discussed frivolous topics like latest trends in fashion and our favourite lipstick brand. Nope. Well, okay, we did briefly discuss the lipstick thing but otherwise it was serious topics like adding value to our lives, aging, death and how to cope with all life throws our way.
Getting serious choosing what to eat for lunch. Isn’t their hair fantastic?
You may recall I mentioned something about a special dress up evening which I haven’t posted about here.
I’m saving those juicy pics my next post. You won’t want to miss it!
I’m trying to get back into the swing of being home without my gang and adjust back into my daily routine. It isn’t easy!
This one thing I know for sure…
It’s not what we have in life but who we have in our life that matters.
Do you agree?
Linking up with the lovely Patti for Visible Monday and Turning Heads Tuesday.
Suzanne!! This is such a fun summary of our weekend in Vancouver! I love ever photo and video and every word. The little ant song with the drill team still makes me snort with laughter. Heck–most of your post makes me snort with laughter because it reminds me of the fun we had (along with the serious talks too).
It is a bit odd not having the posse around this week. I haven’t been sure what to do with myself yet. At least your post helps me relive it a little.
Hugs,
Sherry

I think you and Mel may have tied for biggest haul/bag from Talize. Just the name Talize evokes the promise of treasures! Are you squeezing that bag down just a bit Suzanne??
A recent comment and follow-up with Sherry clued me in to your plans to meet-up. I thought of all of you a few times over the course of that weekend and just knew you were making incredible memories. The buzzing electricity of energy generated by all of you just revelling in the pleasure of being together is fun to imagine. I can completely understand how it would take a day or two to wind down after such riveting fun.
I’m glad you shared so many highlights here and I’m looking forward to the next installment!!
Ha! You caught me Jude : ). I was squeezing down my massive heavy bag of goodies from Talize. There will be many new additions to my Etsy store in the coming month that’s for sure.
totally!!
and i´m green with envy! 😉 it looks like total blast. all of your are so cool and stylish and beautiful. you wore a fab western style!!!
thanks for the report – un-patiently waiting for the next post……..
xxxxx
p.s.: all is fine with loading up your pics!! even the videos – they´r incredible!
I’m delighted to learn that everything loaded easily for you Beate.
Yay! So fun! Happy you gals enjoyed yourself. The only thing that could improve the band uniforms would be for you to pull your baton out of storage. 🙂
I remember Talize! And I’m guessing My Sister’s Closet is related to the one in Victoria. Look at me — I’m half-Canadian!
Yes! I needed my baton with me. It wouldn’t have fit in my suitcase though.
Ha ha! You and Patti are doing your very best to become honorary Canadians I think.
You can feel the love jumping out of those photos, Suzanne! (in fact, I almost chucked breakfast when I saw what Patti was standing next to…LOL)
This really goes to show that our friends are the chocolate chips in the cookies of life (a quote I picked up from a pillow)
Cant’ wait to see the rest of the fun!!
XOXO

Did you see the videos Jodie? I just realized now that they don’t show up in the emailed version of my weekly newsletter.
I was wondering which one of you would post photos from the meetup first. I look forward to seeing what you crazy gals get up to when you’re together. Those band uniforms would be perfect to have if you ever decided to have a “Team Blogger” challenge. Of course, no trip to Vancouver would be complete without the requisite Talize visit. I hope you bought that blue and black dress because it hugs your curves like a dream! The colour combo is great on you too.
Glad you had a good time with the Vancouver peeps!
We had so many great photos and such a fun time it was a bit overwhelming to try to get up a post that was all inclusive. That is why I had to leave some of it out.
I did buy that black and blue dress, it is partially leather. I’m thinking though it’ll go up for sale on my Etsy store.
What a blast! that looked like an absolutely amazing weekend – I wanna see what’s in the bags!!
Love those insane sequinned numbers.
Someone posted on Facebook, “What’s the best way to make new friends when you’re 55?” and I responded “Write a blog!” xxx
Couldn’t agree more Vix!
I actually had to buy a whole other massive suitcase to get all of my new found treasures home. You don’t see the huge amount here because I’d gone thrifting before I even met up with the gals and already bought a suitcase full. There was loads of good vintage which is usual. I guess there are no vintage sellers near the one store where I scored really big.
Thanks for all of this wonderful reminder of an incredible weekend, Suzanne. It’s in my memory books forever. Srsly, if I lose all my marbles at the end I’ll still be muttering “the wedding . . . Talize . . . Canada forever.”
More to come, I cannot wait! xox

…and one of you writes comments on MY blog, so I must be part of the group too!
Such a fun time. Wish I was there to bang the drum as you walked up the aisle.
xo Jazzy Jack
You are part of the group…even if you are on the other side of the world. : ) We really could have used your fab musical skills.
What an exiting post! How much fun it must be to have a day like that! And Patti s Hair!! Wow!
Yes, Patti has an amazing halo of hair.
I certainly do agree. It is our relationships with our loved ones that makes our life happy and fulfilling. That being said a great wardrobe is a nice thing to have also. You five did very well in the thrift stores and I love all the poses that you stuck.
It is wonderful to behave like a child from time to time and have some serious fun. The marching band photos are hysterical. I also love the photo of Mel with the construction site background .
What a fabulous leather jacket to find Thrifting as well.
Amazing red dress on you! What a fun and fabulous post!
❤️❤️❤️

Thanks Elle : )
YUMMY! This post has it all Suzanne! And my boots….that will forever remain mine in my imaginative world.
Only thing I could have wished for is a couple more pics with the five of us in them. These days I’m not as keen to ask someone on the street to take a photo but…next time we’ll keep a lookout for a photo op with a shop keeper or similar….
I agree. Next time I need to have a selfie stick which will help with that issue.
Hi Suzanne
My mom is visiting different areas around Canada this summer…Quebec, Montreal..she’s excited! Loved seeing these pictures of you all meeting. It looks like so much fun and many laughs, plus some fab finds shopping!
Great pics and I dig that leather jacket Patti scored plus red is ur color for sure!
Fun post.

Your Mom is visiting the province of Quebec? Or more than one province? I hope she likes it. We used to live in Quebec City and Montreal. Quebec is an unusual view of Canada in that is the only province where French (or rather Quebecois) is spoken by the majority. Just like in the US each province is vastly different from the next.
It looks like you all had so much fun! I can’t wait to see all of your thrifting treasures!
All of my thrifting treasures will show up in my Etsy store eventually but probably not on my blog. I think I only bought one thing for myself.
That meet-up looks like the epitome of fun! Had a good chuckle at the band uniform (how amazing) and wedding videos. You guys must have been attracting some attention. On second thoughts, it looked quite empty in those shops, so I’m guessing that the other shoppers have beaten a hasty retreat 😉 Can’t wait to see what you bought! xxx
Funny enough Ann it was really busy in the store where we had the wedding and it was difficult to film. We got lucky.
We didn’t get as many photos at Talize as last year because it was too busy. You’d be surprised how many people didn’t pay any notice at all. People are so blasé.
Oh what a great post. And how much I would have loved to join you. Laughed so loud over the brides video. Brilliant. So glad you made it and showed us. Sherry is indeed a good actress.
Greetje
We would have loved to have you there. Shame you live so far away.
Love seeing your blogger meetup posts. You gals are hilarious! Still hoping to meet you one day in person. I could totally get into all the wacky-ness.
Theresa
I would love to meet you too Theresa! One of these days…
Any chance that that glitterati marching band is doing any European tours in the near future? I would love to see them perform in Haarlem. Or Singapore for that matter.
And always remember that I’m a semi-pro bridesmaid with tons of experience!
Very entertaining post again; friends are the best!
