Thrifted Gucci Style Outfit
The only fashion label that inspires me is Gucci. Nothing else even comes close.
In 2015 when Alessandro Michele became the creative director for the brand he set the fashion world on fire. Now every brand is grabbing onto some of that Gucci goodness and trying to market it for themselves.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to know that most of Alessandro’s inspiration comes from his own personal enormous collection of vintage pieces.
Vintage is where it’s at!
I had high hopes of wearing this outfit below to the swishy media launch party of a friend but the weather isn’t playing along.
It is expected to be around 40 C with the humidex.
I’d be melting in this. : (
The 1940s vintage jacket was thrifted recently with Mel.
I was so delighted when it fit me as you can tell by my sassy stance in the fitting room when she snapped my photo.
I know I’m supposed to be buying for my store and not my personal collection but this piece was too fabulous to let it slip through my hands.
It has different coloured fabric covered buttons all the way down.
Sweet right?
The structure, detailing and fit on the this jacket are so brilliantly executed. That’s why I fall for vintage every time, they don’t make them like this anymore!
I think I’ve captured that “throw it all together” eclectic look that I so love about Gucci.
I’m not too terribly bothered I won’t be able to wear this to the party.
I don’t need a special occasion to wear this. You may see me out thrifting in this ensemble as soon as the temperatures cool down.
It is as comfy as it is chic.
So…back to the launch party.
It’s tonight!
I’ve got the pre-party bag packed.
Did you ever do that when you were younger? Buy liquor and drink before you went out so you didn’t need to spend big bucks at the bar? I won’t be partaking in the alcohol party favours I’m bringing but that doesn’t mean my friends won’t. Just a nice glass to toast the evening before we head out. I think it’s going to be an epic night.
Do people still say epic?
Ha! Who cares?
Now what am I going to wear to the party?
You’ll have to come back to see : )
You may want to check out my Instagram feed. I might wind up posting some real time photos of party or the pre party celebrations.
Linking up with Patti for Visible Monday, Turning Heads Tuesday and Fancy Friday
OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS OUTFIT AND CAN’T WAIT TO SEE PARTY PHOTOS!
Okay. Sorry for yelling. Just got overly excited all at once. But I am serious. I love your Gucci-inspired ensemble and am eager to see what everyone wore and how it all went. Hugs to the party-goers, including you!

LOLOL…we have to yell. They’re all on the other side of the continent having a rip-roaring time!
I love this outfit too and hope the cooler weather is on the horizon!
Weather was as hot as a steam bath but we managed : )
It was so much fun! We missed you, Sue and Judith though.
That 1940’s jacket is really quite perfect Suzanne. I hadn’t realized that you collected items that were that old but then it’s probably not easy to find clothing from that era that’s in good condition!
You really modernized it well with the geometric patterned skirt. I need to better familiarize myself with Gucci styling in order to fully understand that reference.
Can’t wait to hear more about the party you’re attending and see your look for that event. Is this your media launch?
No, it was the media launch for a new campaign for Nordrstrom’s Canada that Melanie was part of. A really brilliant campaign. I’ll write more about it soon.
Older than 1970s are hard to come by now (crazy!), but if one is tenacious one can sometimes stumble upon a fantastic gem like this jacket. It used to be 1940s and 50s was everywhere but that is no longer the case.
ohhh, what a fabulous jacket, the print, the colors, the quality, the buttons and sleeves, I totally agree that they don’t make them like this anymore!
And you totally rock this Gucciesque style, love the different motives and prints, the flowers and chevrons working together, the accessorizing. You’re Gorgeous!
Looking forward to see what you’re going to wear to the party!
besos
You put together fabulous outfits like my husband inhales pizza and ice cream!!
It must be a talent with your creative brain!!!
XOXO

That jacket! If you ever get tired of it, I’ll happily take it off your hands. Pairing it with that black and white geometric skirt was brilliant. And with the beret and pink boots, magnifique!

What a great outfit. The skirt, especially. I’m sure you’ll find an occasion for it. Comfort counts.
Fabulous skirt!
Suzanne, love this combination. I have to try more pattern mixing in the Fall.. The colors in the jacket are gorgeous and i love the fitted, cropped shape.. looks great with the thin belt. I love your beret too! I feel like perhaps this is the one hat I could wear. Sounds like a fun party!

That is a brilliant outfit, too bad the weather didn’t cooperate so you could wear it. You looked great in what you wore, and we had a good time that’s a successful evening in my book! I posted a few photos on my IG last night and today.
Oh, wow, Suzanne! That 1940s vintage jacket is heavenly! No wonder you were looking so pleased with yourself. The Gucci-esque outfit you put together is just fabulous. That skirt’s got a serious wow factor too. Such a shame it’s not appropriate for the weather, but what exactly can be appropriate for 40 C with the humidex? I’m so glad we are done with that kind of weather! Looking forward to see what you are wearing! xxx
Wow you are looking so stunning. and I must say that you are so creative I like your hat. Recently bought a bag from Aldo with their coupon code.
gorgeous ensemble!!! and the little jacket is sooo sweet and what a quality! <3
when i was younger i never had to buy a drink myself – so: no ;-D
xxxx
Oh yes, you do master the Gucci eclectic look. Gorgeous outfit. Works so well. And your rhinestone heels (I remember them) finish it off quite nicely.
I am in love with the bag. If you ever part with it…. let me know. I am still sick of the dress Patti bought from you and wore to Melanie’s party. The fact it fits makes it evident it would never have fitted me, but I love it.
Greetje
PS I have seen some photos of you all at the party on IG
I took the dress in for Patti so it might have fit you as it was originally.
Not according to the sizing you listed.
Alessandro would truly approve! Every piece you are wearing is special and put together in such an expert and eclectic way, a true pro…
Last year I went to Gucci wearing a mash up of an second hand pieces, and a sales person immediately approached me and said that Alessandro would love it… nicest compliment ever,
And I am passing the same one onto you. Now do not keep us in suspense for too long.
Now I never go to Gucci because it is too close to Trump Tower and the side of it it’s too depressing. ..

I love this look! And you look very good in it. It fits you like a glove. Well done, gal!
You’ve nailed the Gucci look – you look fabulous! i love the covered buttons on your blouse and that insane zig-zaggy skirt.
It may have been too hot to wear but you’ve got a killer outfit in reserve ready for the inevitable drop in temperature.
You can’t beat vintage – modern clothes often have the look but – unless you’re paying Gucci prices – the finish is distinctly lacking. xxx
