Nordstrom True Nord Launch Party
I was lucky enough to be invited along as part of Melanie’s entourage for her debut as one of the faces of Nordstrom Canada’s True Nord campaign.
The campaign is unique in that it honours inclusivity, diversity and freedom, core values of what it means to be a Canadian.
The commercial made my heart swell with pride for my country.
It’s short but oh so good.
Wasn’t it great?
The fact that my girlfriend got to be a part of this made it even more amazing. GO Mel!
We met a bit before the actual party started in Mel’s funky hotel room at The Broadview.
I supplied the party refreshments, prosecco and gourmet nacho chips and we toasted to Melanie’s success and the joy of having blogger girlfriends.
I was delighted when Patti was able to make the trip up from Florida for the party and stay at my place.
We had a blast!
I dressed her up like my own personal Barbie doll in pieces from my Etsy store so she could choose what she wanted to wear to the party.
This woman is gorgeous, inside and out.
You can see that she chose the handmade vintage wild horses dress which was perfect for the occasion.
I’m wearing one of my Ian Drummond vintage finds.
I wore it here.
The rhinestone belt was left at home because it was so hot outside (we were in the middle of an extreme heat warning) but looking back on these photos I regret that decision as it made me look heavy without the belt.
I even managed to remember to bring my new selfie stick so we could get a photo of us all together.
Good thing because we never got another one all night.
The photos below were taken by Shelley with her new phone…aren’t they great?
Almost makes me want to go out and buy a Huawei phone.
After the party we enjoyed a meal together before Shelley had to catch her bus back to London.
We headed back to the hotel and Mel and I joked around a bit trying on Patti’s wig.
Mel is always the actress. I think she can really pull off this look. I’m calling it, “psycho diva does Toronto”.
Don’t turn your back on her. She will throw her shoes in your face and scream that she needs more yellow Smarties and iced Grey Goose.
“I said NO RED SMARTIES you imbecile!”
I, on the other hand just look plain horrible.
Nope. Just no.
Let me just say I’m happy I don’t have to see my forehead regularly.
The following day Patti and I managed to squeeze in a bit of thrifting before she had to fly back home.
Do you remember this bride’s maid dress from my trip to Vancouver?
Mel and Patti wore it in our hilarious Talize wedding video.
It seems there is one of these dresses in every single thrift store I visit.
Now after all the excitement is over and my guest has left it is hard to get back to real life.
Ugh.
Ah well. There are loads of items just waiting to be listed in my Etsy shop and the pug isn’t going to walk herself.
Do you have any famous girlfriends?
Linking up with Patti for Visible Monday, Turning Heads Tuesday and Fancy Friday
SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER fun, Suzanne!!! All of you looked the part of a real TOllywood (Toronto-Hollywood) entourage. Patti could have worn any of those outfits and knocked the socks off everyone at the party but I love the horse-patterned dress she chose. Did the horses go home with her to Florida?
Also, the wig photos! I am so glad I wasn’t sipping coffee when I came upon that part of your post! Your captions are DEAD ON for Mel’s pose! HA HA HA HA HA!!! And, not for nothing, but you don’t give yourself enough credit for being gorgeous. Your dress and even with the wig, you rock the party. Your smile lights up the world. (Don’t mean that to sound creepy. Just want you to see through someone else’s eyes for a second and hopefully trust me about it.) 😀
OH HOW HAPPY JEALOUS I am to see these great photos and read about your time together. Thank you for posting this. The commercial and print ads are a delightful success, in my humble opinion. Makes me want to be Canadian, even more than I did before. You have so much to be proud of! And Mel is a STAR!!!!
Hugs,
Sherry

Yes Sherry, Patti had already bought the horse dress before she came. She knew well in advance it had to be hers. Doesn’t she look great in it?
Yes…Mel is the star we all knew she would be. It was so fun to be there to share the special moment with her. We did miss you though!
How nice! You gals all look great.
Thanks Ally. It was a fun evening.
What a memorable moment for Mel and her supportive entourage/ posse. You all look quite beautiful but I’m kinda blown away by how great Patti looks in the horsey dress. SO unique!!!
I hope Mel talks more about what this new representative position will entail for her. Right now it’s just time to basque in the glory and anticipate what this new adventure will become. Hooray!!
Yes, that dress is perfect for Patti.
I’m not sure just how much further the position goes beyond the video commercial, print ads and online ads.
What an incredible time and event!!! How fun, how wonderful!!
XOXO

It really was a blast : P
I love the photos Shelley took of you and Patti. I’m with Sherry, you don’t give yourself enough credit for being gorgeous. Your dress was stunning, especially for Gucci. Hahaha! All you guys were gorgeous and bold at the party – I’m sure everyone was wondering who you were.
Thanks for sharing the Patti dress-up photos. Each and every outfit, yeaaah! You have an eye to pick ’em, no question.
The stalker bridesmaid dress! They FOLLOW US around I think. LMAO at the smarties caption. Too good. I was going to say, the water’s boiling, where’s the rabbit? (Fatal Attraction) Heh.
Finally, having you guys there made this such a incredibly great evening. It wouldn’t have been the same without you. THANK YOU!!!!
PS. You look ready for a key party in that photo as a blonde.
Ha ha! Ah yes…Gucci ; P
I also thought of Glen Close for that photo. Scary!
I’m delighted we could share this moment with you. Thanks for inviting me : )
I have to find out what a “key party” is! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful pics, and memories of a festive, friendly weekend. And for tailoring my horsey dress to fit me perfectly, and for being the gorgeous redhead you are. (Not bad in curly blond, either).
The memories are in my life book. And we’ll be seeing more of super-Mel front and center. xox
And you grew up in the era when that was big! Key party = everyone throws their keys in a bowl when they arrive at the party. They match up your keys with someone else’s keys and, ahem, cough, cough…you-know-what. You go home with them. ; p I’ve never been to one but I have seen them reenact them on Master’s of Sex, which if you’re not watching you should. It is brilliant!
FUN! FUN! FUN! I can vicariously party with the fab four!
And my but doesn’t Patti look absolutely gorgeous in these photos! Simply stunning in every outfit!
And you…I actually think the wig looks great on you. It’s massively different from your current style but if you were to break up routine, I say go for this new look!
Patti really is one of the best Barbie’s I’ve had ; P
I really did not like the wig on me and I found the hair always wanted to be in my face.
It must have been amazing being part of Mel’s entourage! You girls are all looking fantastic. Had a good chuckle at you wearing Patti’s wig. Oh, and there’s one particular dress which keeps popping up in all our charity shops as well. Isn’t it strange? xxx
I think it is a bit weird about certain dresses that you find everywhere. Good marketing and a bad product I wonder?
I’m so very very happy for Mel and how awesome that you gals were her entourage for the occasion! Really fabulous!
I had no idea Patty was wearing a wig….
Her wig looks very similar to her own hair, the only difference is the wig is blond and fuller and her own hair is now silver/grey.
It was such a treat to be able to be there to celebrate with Mel, and see you and Patti. You got some beautiful shots of Patti modelling some of your stock. That is very weird about that bridesmaid dress – it must have been a very popular style at some point.
It is almost a game I play now when I thrift…find the bridesmaid dress!
It was fun you were able to join in the celebrations with us.
Thanks for this wonderful round up of that amazing event. Hurrah for Mel, but somehow none of us are really surprised as her star has always shone brightly. You ladies must have had a ball that evening and I’m only a teensy bit envious of you!

its soooo fabulous!!!
congrats to mel! <3
xxxx
wowww, lots of fun, lots of blogger friends and clothes and fabulousness!, so lovely that Patti and Shelley could meet you for the party time!!
I love those pictures of Patti modelling your clothes! so much fun!. Actually, I’m divided between enthusiasm and envy!
And totally amazed by the ubiquitous dress, that’s serendipity!
besos
Yes Mel is a star! However you other three are fabulous! That is a very exciting opportunity for Melanie. How much fun was this post. I loved watching everyone trying on Patti’s wig! Mel indeed look a bit like a diva. Patti looked wonderful in all of the clothing you provided from your shop.
❤️❤️❤️

Melanie’s a real life star!
The four of you looked absolutely amazing, I love your dress and no, you don’t look heavy in it at all.
Patti’s horse dress! Wow! I’m glad we live on separate continents or I think I might have had to fight her for it.
I do have a famous friend – Jorja Smith. 18 months ago she was living in the next street, buying my clothes and looking after the cats. Now she’s hanging around with Drake, headlined Coachella, modelling for Louis Vutton and has been nominated for a Mercury Music prize. I couldn’t be more proud!

Amazing post. You all looked so good. And like Sherry, I would have loved to join… Oh distance.. I hate you.
Had to laugh when I saw you using Patti as a doll to dress up. That is so you. She looked fine in everything. That red lipstick on her is fabulous, she should wear it every day!
And the horses dress… had it been a size large, it would have been mine. Fantastic dress.
Yours was great too and I agree with you that it looks even better with the belt. When it was so hot, how did Patti cope with the wig?
Mel has a model figure and a classic face/hair which photographers love. So, so nice for her to be in this campaign. And right so!

What a party! It’s almost like I was there (well sorta) since I know you all (kinda). And everybody looks gorgeous and completely unique in her own style. I do luv the wig swap. And it’s wonderful you were altogether to support and celebrate Mel’s Big Adventure. I’m sure there will be more and bigger ones to come, so get ready! Maybe you could all wear that bridesmaid dress for it?
Oh, sounds like a great event! Loving those long dresses. You all look so gorgeous!
