Vintage Fantasy Dress Flamenco Dancer Part 5
I had the wonderful opportunity to see authentic Flamenco dancers when I was in Spain a few years back.
We saw them in a cave. It was incredible. An experience I will never forget. The dancers were so intense.
It was like they were in a trance.
The cave was small and intimate. The sounds they made by clapping their hands, stomping their feet and beating their chests were amplified by the stone walls.
The dancers we saw were part of a family that had been dancing Flamenco for generations.
This woman was dancing so fast she was just a blur.
All the dancers sit on stage with the musicians and each one has their turn to get up and dance their story.
I was impressed by two of the women, the mother and the daughter but without a doubt it was the male dancer (I believe their son) that blew my mind.
He had the ability to make each person in the audience feel like he was dancing uniquely for them. His stare and intensity burned through my soul.
It was so magical it was almost orgasmic.
I’m not joking! This is the first time I was so moved by a dancer.
That memory has stayed with me. Should I return to Spain one day I hope to revisit the same area near the Alhambra to experience the wonder again.
Vintage Fantasy Dress Flamenco Dancer
When I came across this amazing vintage Flamenco at Talize I knew it was coming home with me.
All the very best fantasy dresses have transformative powers.
As soon as I put it on I felt like a woman of mystery and rhythm.
The dress has stories to tell just like those Flamenco dancers told us their stories that warm evening in Spain.
I wore this dress to watch Dracula at the Shaw Festival.
We took some photos in the hotel stairway before we left for the theatre.
Sadly you can’t see the handmade fabric flower I had in my hair.
I felt very Dolce Gabbana in this outfit.

Here is my best accessory.
It was the perfect outing for this fantasy dress the last in this series…for now ; ) I know there will be many more fantasy dresses in my life thanks to my love of thrifting.
Do you own any transformative fantasy dresses? How do they make you feel?
Have you ever seen Flamenco dancing? Was it what you expected?
If you want to see more of my series of Vintage Fantasy Dresses here is part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4.
Linking up with the lovely Patti over at Visible Monday.
Amazing. I love the tiered and asymmetrical cuts of the style of dress.
That’s such an amazing dress, Suzanne! I guess it was very fitting to go and watch Dracula wearing it, as it’s got quite a Gothic feel. I have the same handbag! I’ve never seen a performance of Flamenco dancers, but I’ve heard that it can be quite intense. It must have been quite an experience! xxx
I did feel very much at home in the front row wearing this dress : )
So fun that we have the same handbag! I had this one for sale in my Etsy store for a bit but once I used it with this outfit I decided to keep it for now. It is too pretty to sell.
If you ever get the chance to see some Flamenco dancers I highly recommend it.
Damn! You’re one stunning couple! That dress is to die for and you look bloody incredible in it.
Did you used ever follow Michelle’s blog? She was a banker who ran away to be a flamenco dancer. Both her wardrobe and her writing will take your breath away!

Bless you Vix! Need to get back to blogging one of these days…
I follow her on IG and did read her blog when she still had it.
: )
I do so love her outfits and of course her dancing!
Like Vix said, damn, girl, you and Robert are a gorgeous couple. And this fantasy dress is exquisite on you. I imagine you did some mesmerizing of your own. xox

It’s such an incredible experience seeing live flamenco isn’t it? That dress is a bit of a gothic flamenco dancer! Amazing. Please bring back more fantasy dresses, this is such a fun series x
I’m sure this won’t be the end of the fantasy dresses : ). I love them too much.
Ooh, what a fabulous dress – just right for you, and I love it with those heels! Kx
I love the red heels with it too. I just wish they were more comfortable. The black ones I wore to the show are much more comfy.
🙂 Dear Suzanne,
what a lovely post! And you look absolutely fabulous in that dress!
Can almost hear your heels clicking…
Have a very HAPPY week,
Claudia 🙂
You look stunning in that spectacularly ruffled dress; I can see why it’s giving you flamenco vibes. So nice to see you and Robert out on the town (how was Dracula by the way?).
I studied Flamenco dancing for about 3 years, but we only had one class per week, and as much as I enjoyed it (the footwork is a challenge to be sure, but my arms were in great shape) I gave it up when our instructor moved back to Toronto. I’ve seen several live performances and if the dancer is really good, it is an incredible visual and sound experience.
I would love to take Flamenco lessons! I can see why your arms would be in great shape.
I really wish there were some kind of cool dance lessons by where I live. I find they are all in Toronto.
We enjoyed Dracula but both of us agreed the first half was much better than the last. They seemed to wrap it all up too quickly.
Never had the pleasure of seeing flamenco live. Would love to. Am now looking online to see if there are any performances in my area. I do have friends who are pro Argentine tango dancers and watching them sends chills up my spine. The dance is so darn sexy!
Speaking of sexy, that dress. Oh my. Mysterious, seductive, dark glamour. It’s a perfect example of how it is certainly not necessary to expose everything in order to look hot, hot, hot!

My husband and I took Tango lessons for a couple of years. We started with traditional Tango and then began Argentine which we loved. I wish we had kept up with it. The problem was driving into Toronto for the lessons.
Now of course he is in HK. : ( I hope when he returns we can take it up again.
Wonderful! Fashion soars when it takes inspiration from life. And dancing is inherently joyful. Flamenco dancing is, as you note, entrancing. You look great in this dress. Many (if not most) of my outfits are efforts to realize my fantasies.
Yes, of course your dresses are all about fantasy. Hopefully some day that will become a reality to take outside of your house.
I have never seen dancers of that caliber that moved me that way! What a wonderful experience!
I,LOVE the dress, I can see the red peeking out as you dance and the black swirls of fabric around you , in motion. Fabulous
Your accessory is just right! 🤗😊😎
Loved the flower adorning that sleek ponytail !
💃🏽 💕

Thanks! I wanted to show the red beneath. The dress comes with such a fabulous lining that peaks through all of the lace.
You and Robert are a stunning couple – I agree with everyone here. Heads surely turn wherever you go. This must be the dress that required the underthing – the red is perfect! Stamp your feet! Snarl. Flamenco is thee dance for this outfit, I agree. I’ve only started in these past several years to think I’d like to try it. Such high drama! Oh, and love the sleek hairstyle too.
No, this dress is fully lined in the red that you see. In fact I bought this dress with you! Ha ha! Maybe you were in the change room.
Ole!!
Ha! I bow down to your greatness : )
I bought a black and white prom dress from a second hand shop. My mother turned it into a flamenco dress that I just wore around the house. I’m like that.
That is so fun!
I’ve wanted to do a series of photos where I’m dressed to the nines while cleaning the house. The logistics of getting my tripod set up with decent lighting has held me back so far.
Great pictures and poses!
I LOVE flamenco. It can be very intense and moving.
Have you ever danced it Anja?
I love that you call your husband your best accessory…that’s the sweetest thing ever!!
And you do look like a photo from the Dolce & Gabbana ad!! Very gorgeous & chic!!
XOXO

And you look absolutely gorgeous wearing this dress!, like a like a woman of mystery and rhythm, indeed!!!. And so lovely to see your ‘best accessory’ rocking!, you’re a fab couple!
besos
That dress is romantic, gothic and mysterious all rolled into one…absolutely stunning and perfect for seeing Dracula! You were meant for dresses like this. 🙂

Ole! A gorgeous post, gorgeous dress – lots of passion here. (I’m going to be a flamenco dancer in my next life!) xx
Me too! And an Argentine tango dancer too : )
This is one of my favorite posts ever Suzanne!
Pairing the darling red polka dot frock with the cute blue wig was genius! You look like you stepped right out of a super campy 50’s film where you are more exciting and fun than any Disney princess! Loved it!
THEN! You follow with a beautifully composed story of an incredible evening in Spain where Flamenco stole your heart! I was pretty swept away myself by your wonderful description of this adventure.
I see that the purchase and styling of your stunning black dress required a red slip dress and like Melanie I recall you looking for just that item!! I’m so impressed with the black dress and I can see how it was the perfect choice for a night of Dracula with handsome Robert. You two must have really cut a swath on that night eh?
A very memorable post Suzanne!!
The dress is fully lined in this fabulous red. It is wonderful and very well made. This is a keeper.
I did pick up a red vintage slip today for that other lace maxi dress though. I hope it’ll work!
We were by far the best dressed people in the theatre that night aside from the actors on stage. No worries though. I quite liked it and I think Robert did too.
I can understand completely that you felt very D&G in this beautiful dress. The bag and shoes and the flower in your hair, it all makes the picture complete. D&G for a much better price. I didn’t know hubby was back. How nice.
Greetje
Well he was back for a visit and has long since returned to HK. : (
We are looking forward to his next visit in Dec.
Oh WOW! To finally see what I’ve been missing these weeks I’ve been away is such a thrill! How absolutely stunning, Suzanne! And what a perfect ensemble to go see Dracula in. So very dramatic and seductive! So very Dolce Gabbana! I’m not sure you’re quite aware just how inspiring these posts are to me but they ARE! And I hope you see that reflected in my own work in weeks/months to come.
Hugs,
Sherry
