Yes this was the outfit I was wearing on the fated day when I walked downtown and it was 45 C.
Boots- Anthropologie, Belt & Hat – H&M, Cross body bag – Thrifted, Dress – Marshals
This dress was so hot I felt like the polyester was melting to my skin.
Of course now that it has cooled off the dress is perfect. The polyester acts like a little body activated heater keeping me warm in the breeze.
Seems like more and more dresses are made out of polyester or some form of man made material. This style of dress is a dime a dozen now. I picked this one up at Marshals about 5 months ago.
They do make for great travelling outfits since you can literally roll them in a ball and toss them in your suitcase and they will still come out looking fresh.
There are certain fabrics I can't wear.
Angora. Makes me itch like my body is covered in hives.
Real fur makes me sad.
Certain kinds of wool also make me itch.
My favourite fabric by far to have next to my skin is silk.
I can remember my old boyfriend had silk sheets on his water-bed.
No it wasn't the 1970's and no he did not look like this.
It says his outfit is only 50% polyester but I guarantee the rest of him is 100% sleazy man-ape.
Did you read the copy?
Ummm…yeah.
I'm now trying to scrub the image from my brain of this guy unzipping…
Nuf said.
When you are shopping do you look at the fabric the item is made of? Are their certain fabrics you won't wear?

You look killer in that dress
I am in love with that little cross body bag!! What a find. Perfectly distressed, great color and shape. I just adore it!
The dress is great, too. But I have a hard time with that sort of fabric. It’s clingy, too, yes?
I itch with wool, angora gets in my nose, and I can’t stand anything stiff and starchy – must remind me of my former career-woman life.
What a creeper that guy in the jumpsuit looks like. Eek!
What a shame that dress made you so hot, as you look amazing in it! Very boho cool, I love the print and how you’ve accessorised it with your those lovely brown leather touches. Gorgeous cross bag in particular.
Ugh–i need to shower in Lysol after reading that ad—EEEEEWWWWWW
Love the dress, though! It is super cute!
I can’t wear much wool or angora either!
OMG! That is so hilarious. And let me guess, that was not even from a publication that needed to come from the store wrapped in plastic. Imagine if someone tried to advertise something with copy like that nowadays! And women found that attractive? What were they thinking. You have totally made my day. I don’t often look so much as feel the fabrics. I have t admit I prefer things you can throw in the wash, especially after all the hand washing I have had to do today. Thanks again for this. Oh my lord! Laugh!
I can’t wear fur, mohair, wool- not crazy about silk, love cashemere, cotton, polyester is ok –
This sex animal add is just hilarious – Gee! i remember a lot of guys dressed like that in the 70s, just plain awfull!
Love your styling, boots, belt, hat, it’s perfect!
you can pull off so many different patterns… I’m jealous! this dress looks great on you, the colors… everything! your hair even matches with it all 🙂

So funny that you were dying of heat in that dress when it has the funnest summer vibe. At any rate you are rocking it now!
Yeah, I gotta scrub my eyeballs now. Where in the world did you find that ad? Wait…I don’t think I wanna know.
I just can’t seem to wear poly…my personal temperature gauge is fickle in these years, and I do so much better with cotton. Cotton is my favourite! I like how it’s usually crisper than silk. Shantung silk is almost too crisp for me. Ooooh, apparently I’m fickle with fabrication too.
Hope that tiling is going well!
That dress is very pretty–and it looks so innocent! But 45 is insanely hot! Growing up overseas–we’ve always searched for 100% cotton because it’s durable and breathable! It’s annoying how wrinkly it gets, though!
lol..the problem with wearing polyester. OY. BUT, love the look!
xo,
nancy
fur and polyester….my favourite is lace! x
Well it’s a super pretty dress! Too bad it was unkind to you haha I totally remember that post by the way 🙂 Loving how you combined fall boots and more of a summer hat! Looks great!

You had me fooled by the heat of the dress because it looks completely at ease and comfortable on you. Love the weay you paired it with all the leather, and those anthro boots, oh, I love those boots. I agree with Adrienne, what a great find with your messenger bag.
Yes, I look at the fabric, in fact it;s the first thing I look at. I prefer natural materials, and love soft cottons, silk and of course my favorite in winter, cashmere.
Love this dress, very pretty look and the print (although I usually stay away from prints) is unique!
I’m allergic to wool, mohair and angora. I don’t wear fur for compassionate reasons, even as a child I knew animals were killed for fur and it made me sad to see fur coats and foxes hanging around women’s shoulders – ugg!! Later I found out the unimaginable cruelty of the fur industry. I would never think of wearing dog fur or cat fur, so why would I want any fur?
My favourite fabrics are cotton, bamboo, hemp and rayon.
As for the guy’s jumpsuit – my husband used to have one in black velour/terry in the 60s from Le Chateau. 😉 Those were the days!
Fashion is fun!

Oh my!! That ad!! Good grief. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Maybe both! The question is, is he man enough to handle a beautiful, real woman in a beautiful dress? The answer is very likely NO.
XOXO
Lynn
PS — I don’t get along with certain fabrics either.
OMG Carmen! I would DIE to see a photo of him wearing it! : )
Please please please ; P
That little messenger bag called my name from across the street. I bought it the same day this dress tried to kill me! LOL
It was on a mannequin across the street and I went straight across, took it off the mannequin and bought it. I love it when you can finally find what you were looking for.
Oh…ha ha…that little ad came from my secret stash of old porn mags. LOL NOT
Also…I’m being a bit of a chicken and am waiting on the guy to come on Saturday and give me a quote. Then, depending on the $ I’ll decide to tackle it personally.
Right now I’m neck deep in refinishing an antique dresser. I’m starting to see why I will be going back to the hardware store again tomorrow because the paint I bought doesn’t seem to be working out so well. Milk paint. Supposed to be better for the environment, cleaner etc, but it goes on like…well… like milk. Not so great.
But I did manage to use my new sander today. Yes, I’m bragging about using a sander. ; )
LOL… 90% of the reason I bought the dress was because I knew it’d go so well with my hair. I guess I’m stuck being a red head forever now. That’s okay, I prefer it over the blond.
Yep…that guy had it GOIN’ ON!
I have a feeling that women did not find that attractive one bit. Seriously…if I saw that coming towards me I’d run the other way screaming. It had to have been a man writing the copy.
ha ha ha!
Yep the little bag made my day. I’d been searching for it for a while. You can only get one like that by buying vintage/thrifted.
I’d looked for that little bag for a while. When I saw it I knew it was perfect. It has all kinds of writing inside, like a teenager had it at school or something. All the aging and history that you can’t get from a new piece.
The dress isn’t super clingy because of the fit, kind of an empire waist almost so it doesn’t really cling.
Thanks : )
Thanks Kristian : )
Eewwwww, what a sleazeball. The guy of course, not you! He’s creepy.
I ALWAYS look at the fabric content. I have only one polyester dress that is loose, so I can wear it occasionally. I prefer as much cotton as possible in everything – socks, underwear, sweaters.
PS – I love that dress on you! You look great in that photo on the steps.
Such a pretty dress, I am glad you didn’t do anything drastic like tossing the dress that day. Love the boho vibe you gave to this dress.
As for materials I avoid, anything that itches or wrinkles too easily. I personally do prefer silk over polyester too and unfortunately stores are moving towards more polyester blends.

Well, if the dress had succeeded in it’s murder plot at least you would have looked fabulous when you went. Love the boots! And good lord, could that add be more skeevy?! Ewww… So glad to hear he’s not your old boyfriend.
Debbie 🙂

i think they only make silk sheets for waterbeds. (do they still make water beds?) i love this dress on you…the colors are perfect for the season, and i love it with your hat and boots
The dress is amazing, I love the pattern! And I love how you paired it with this cute boots.
Angora and coarse wool I also can not wear and fur I don’t want to be around me. Except of sheepskin. What I like best is leather and linen.
Take good care of you, dear Suzanne!

Great outfit, perfection with your tan boots, bag and belt. Love that the accessories reflect the color of your hair. Why were all the cool guys in 70’s so hairy? I think it was the Burt Renalds influence. Can you believe I had a jumpsuit almost exactly the same but in blue!
blue hue wonderland
This outfit is amazing. I love it!
That guy is pure sleeze and that ad, really???? The wording is porn-like and weird. ewww… You look awesome Suzanne. xo
P.S. Please don’t feel sad when I wear fur. It could be fake even though it looks real… 🙂 xo
Great inspiration!

Great dress and you look pretty cute wearing it. . . I always look at fabrics before buying my clothes. Perhaps to know if I will be able to clean them in water! I can’t stand furs. . . They are neither chic nor beautiful for me!!
Love the dress.
And hope his chest hair does not get stuck in that zipper;-)
Ok … you asked for it … it’s even on the Internet. 🙂

He really was in style in those days and I thought he looked good! After all, he got it at Le Chateau, that was the coolest store!!
