Meeting up with my creative, fashionable girlfriends requires some intelligent packing strategies.
This year we met in April when the BC weather is prone to more unpredictability than usual. I planned my travel wardrobe around my famous blue raincoat. Rain is a given when visiting Vancouver pretty much all year round so I also packed a mini umbrella.
3 Outfits I Packed For Vancouver In April
You’ll remember this bold vintage maxi dress.
I love it!
Statement dresses like this are perfect for standing out from the crowd.
It is a very easy-to-wear option that is as comfy as wearing PJs.
Packing Tip
Use the same footwear and outerwear.
My packing plan was try to make outfits using the same outerwear and boots when possible.
Keeping the bottom half all blue visually lengthens my body.
Us shorties need all the help we can get.
This vintage dress is from the Ian Drummond sale last year.
The outfit is visual stimulation and print overload.
It’ll hypnotize you if you look at it too long.
I packed this vintage 70s striped dress but didn’t get the chance to wear it.
I always pack at least one or two alternate outfits to accommodate changes in weather and mood.
Packing Confession
I took LOTS of footwear for this trip. In fact
, I took five pairs of boots! They took up half of my suitcase and almost put me over my suitcase weight limit. My feet are notoriously fussy and I find that sometimes simply changing out my footwear is the break they need when traveling.I wore every pair of boots I took so I don’t feel bad about lugging them all the way to BC and back.
Those are 3 outfits I packed for Vancouver in April.
Next time I’ll showcase some outfits I wanted to take that didn’t make the cut.
Which was your favorite outfit?
Do you over pack or take the strict minimum when you travel?
Linking up with Visible Monday, Turning Heads Tuesday, Fancy Friday, and Spy Girl
I am not a minimalist when it comes to packing. And I’ve heard that it’s good to change shoes frequently when walking a lot….so it’s good to hear you say that too!!
I feel like I’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again…..I LOVE that you love color. And print. And fun items!! Like these dresses. It shows that you have a personality, and a great one at that!!!

I stay far away from predictable style that’s for sure : ) Thanks Jodie
Very cute outfits. Five pairs of boots?! Girl, you need a porter to carry your wardrobe around. 🙂
Just a shoe sherpa ; P
Oh my, I really couldn’t choose between the bold maxi and the print overload frock, both of which I’m seriously coveting! Taking one piece of outerwear is a great tip, especially considering luggage weight restrictions. I’d opt for a choice of footwear instead as well. I’m always having trouble packing, creating a temporary capsule wardrobe out of my more-than-maximalist one … xxx
I could really see you rocking both of those dresses Ann! Narrowing down choices when travelling is like choosing your favourite child I find.
The bold maxi is incredibly exciting and I love you in it!
Packing is such an intense task. I’m determined to pack the perfect choices and like you some backups. It’s hard not having the choices of my robust closeted collection.
I also find footwear the MOST difficult. Shoes are quite bulky and yet I want the right shoe to complete each packed look!
I agree that making choices for a travel wardrobe is challenging, especially when you know you are meeting up with very stylish friends. We all want to bring our A game but we don’t want sore feet that’ll make us cranky.
What fun! Why not make each outfit outstanding, as you have done? My favorite is the maxidress.
You’re short? I would have guessed that you’re tall, based on the photos.
Well I’d say I’m average size in North America at 5’4″.
love them all!
and shoes and tights in the same color is not only elongating – its very elegant too!
the bold flower prints are gorgeous and the way you play with scarf and bow is totally chic – but the striped dress is something i would wear ever day for the rest of my life 😀
i pack extremely minimal – coming from hiking/backpacking – but i do pack min. 2 pairs of different shoes – for foot comfort.
xxxx
That striped dress does seem very Beate.
All 3 are gorgeous but I love the maxi the most. Lise
It is one of my all time favourites.
I loved all the dresses but for the wow factor it has to be the maxi dress. You are a minimalist packer; I am too but i don’t need to pack too much for Ireland as I have a wardrobe out there already! In fact, as the Irish summers have been a lot cooler and wetter than the UK ones I don’t get to wear that much of my summer wardrobe at all!
Hope you have a great week.
xx
I think it is brilliant to have your clothes already at your holiday home.
Sadly, I always end up overpacking, and not wearing half the stuff I took with me. I’m hoping the weather has settled into summer when I head out to Vancouver in June. That maxi dress is an incredibly statement piece, and it looks gorgeous on you.
Vancouver is always unpredictable but they have had an unusually warm spring this year. Hopefully you’re lucky with the weather when you visit.
love them all!
And totally agree on picking your outerwear and footwear first, then building some outfits around them. You totally rock in your blue rain coat and those booties. And it’s great to have some pairs of shoes to change, as fussy feet are so problematic sometimes!
I do love the bold vintage maxi dress, what a fab print! and it fits you like a dream!. But also love the floral dress and the striped one!
besos
Five pairs of boots and you wore them all. I’d do the same and wear one. Packing is not my forte, and I didn’t go a good job when I saw you in Van this time, sooo many suitcases, with the excuse that maybe we could use a few things for the shoot. Heh. I should have imposed a fake weight limit even though I wasn’t flying. You need to do a guide, how to pack for a weekend in your own city. Hahaha!! I love the pieces your brought, but didn’t remember the striped dress because you didn’t wear it.
You have me confused. I get that you decided for a blue column at the bottom but you show one pair of blue boots and say you packed five. ???
I am the same, very fussy feet and always packing a lot of footwear.

These aren’t all of the outfits. I wore an outfit for the photo shoot with green platform boots, another outfit that isn’t shown here with red snakeskin boots, other boots were worn when I was staying with my parents and one other pair was worn on the plane : )
LOVE the bold pattern of the first dress (the long one) It suits you so well too!
