So initially when I found this dress on sale at Anthropologie (they actually call it a maxi dress but I can assure you this ain't no maxi) I thought it made me look shorter…but then I decided that I was going to overlook that fact because it is so dang pretty, colourful and so comfortable. I kind of feel like a fairy princess in it.
How wild is it that these earrings match the dress?
It may be overkill…
but I Don't Care…
I Love It!
Dress – Anthropologie, Shoes – Nine West, Earrings – Jeweliq, Jacket – Danier
I wore this out with my boots instead of the shoes since I knew we would be walking for a while. I think when it gets warmer I will probably wear it with sandals.
Do you ever just ignore those pesky fashion rules even though you know that might not be the best fit/style/pattern/colour for you?

I think this is a great dress especially with leather and your earrings! Beautiful colors for you. I try to wear what makes me feel good and not worry about rules.
blue hue wonderland
What a beautiful dress, the print is just amazing! In dressing I follow my instincts and not some fashion rules. I too would wear these earrings with this dress, they are like made for each other.

Oh my gosh…I just wrote this long comment to you and poof! It’s gone.
What I wrote, in a nutshell, is that I love your dress and it’s very flattering on you. And that I do have many old style rules that I ignore…but they do remain in the back of my mind and make me question some of my choices which can be annoying.
Yes, you do look like a fairy princess and if a dress makes you feel this way, by all means wear it to death! I ignore those fashion rules ALL the time.
I MISS Anthro! They have the best stuff. Your dress is absolutely gorgeous and you look stunning in it! The earrings and leather jacket just finish it off beautifully, and I think you can very well do this look with everything from boots to sandals. I don’t pay much attention to fashion rules. Not sure I’d even know what the rules are!
P.S. thanks for your comment on my blog – and how cool that you have a French connection. We love Annecy and often compare it to Paradise, though, don’t get me wrong, I still miss Canada and Toronto especially, where I lived for six years. 🙂
Xoxo
I adore this dress and you look fabulous, Suzanne. I see no point in any rule that would keep you from this dress : > Great earrings too, and thanks for sharing your gorgeous look with Visible Monday!
Sorry to hear about the comment disappearing. I’m not sure why that happens to some people. Normally it ends up in my spam comments but there wasn’t anything there.
I agree that I have to fight my brain sometimes to get rid of those old rules. Especially the one about brown and black or blue and black being no no’s.
Well no doubt you don’t miss the weather LOL. Today it is only 12 but feels more like 5 with the wind. Our winter seems to have gone on forever this year.
We head out to Nice in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to some beautiful consistent weather for a change.
Thanks for hosting again Patti : )
Someone needs to write a book about how to ignore the fashion rules and still look great. I nominate you : P
I love this dress on you. You certainly don’t look any shorter! The wild pattern of this piece makes me happy just looking at it. So perfect for the summer!
I find that it’s been easier for me to ignore some of the fashion rules as I get older.I also think we can be our worst enemies when it comes to our bodies. Most people really don’t notice all the little flaws that we think we have, and even when they do, they don’t judge us as we think they would. It only took me several decades and an encouraging husband to start wearing dresses, because of my thick calves. Now that I’m my thirties I wear what I like and what makes me feel good, even if it exposes some of the imperfections. Whatever, calves!
Suzanne the dress is wonderful and how cute that you found earrings matching perfectly. The length of the dress is perfect, because it ends over the ankles. Don’t worry it suits you so well.
I agree, very flattering, love the jacket pairing. And color. Amen.
Puhhhlleeezzze. This is completely divine on you. And the perfect little ear-rings are, as you point out, perfect. You were clearly meant to wear this dress. If you were breaking fashion laws, then this law needs repealing! Boots, sandals, yes. These shoes are lovely also. Nice to have choices.
Nope, doesn’t make you look short.
And I KNOW about short…!
I so love the colorful earring paired with the colorful dress. They are a perfect match, for sure!
And I’m pretty sure that nothing ever makes me look tall….except possibly, standing next to my husband in heels…. 😛
Girl, I think you look like a long tall drink of water in that dress! Gorgeous!
Peace & grace,
Lynne
Those earrings are so pretty! 🙂
I don’t think the earrings are overkill! Maybe if you were wearing a pink jacket, too, it would be. But the jacket is more neutral, so it looks really cute. AND you kept your hair simple. Nice job 🙂
Quite the opposite, it makes your limbs look longer. Love the print of this dress! xo
I’d love it if you can drop by mine and check out my latest post: http://www.fashchronicles.blogspot.com
I ignore those pesky fashion rules just about every time I get dressed. If it feels right, do it. And that dress is The Business, by the way.
