Pattern Mixing With Plaid
Tone on tone patterns are easy to mix with other patterns as they aren’t too visually distracting to the eye. They read more as texture than pattern, thus why I knew adding some festive red plaid to my Karina dress would work out just fine.
I’m wearing long leather gloves that make me feel “EBA” (elegant badass).
Yes that is fashion terminology.
Look it up on Google if you don’t believe me.
I do not like my scarf placement here. I’m all off kilter and lopsided.
I’m going to fire my stylist. Between wardrobe changes she should notice details like this!
I am wearing a long sleeved turtleneck under the dress here, but again my slacking assistant didn’t recognize the need for additional photos to show you the details.
She blamed her ineptitude on the inclement (freezing) working conditions and zero pay.
She portrays herself as all business, but I can assure you, often times that tie is just for show.
It is so difficult to get good help nowadays.
I like this outfit best with the plaid blazer.
Tomorrow we find out who wins their own Karina dress.
Is it going to be you? You need to enter if you want to win.
Good luck!
December Karina Dress Giveaway
See how Liz has styled her Karina dress.
Linking up with Throw Back Thursday
I LOVE this outfit!!! It is actually cold and I actually need to dress a bit warmer and would wear this in a heart beat. I don’t own any gloves (besides ones to play in the snow) and think I need to change that ASAP.

Would love for you to stop by & join TBT Fashion link up.
You can wear them in California and call them driving gloves : ) So chic!
This is my favorite look with this dress. The red plaid is just so pretty! And your stylist is too darn cute to fire.
She gets by on her looks all. the. time.
LOVE! the blazer over the dress. Fantastic combo. I feel you about getting good styling help. Mine is a 59 year-old software engineer with poor vision. We need to hire professional assistants with all the loot we’re raking in as style bloggers! xox

Ha! You are too right! That means we can hire…ummm the chair? Or can you afford that? I’ve heard he is unionized. Might be too pricey.
Brilliant styling ….again! Love the mix of swirly print and graphic tartan, they look brilliant together.
I know those types who look respectable in the office with their corporate attire and turn crazy when its home time – me & Zoe are very alike! xxx
You read her perfectly.
Hey EBA person. You look fine.
; P
Gorgeous outfit! Festive and not predictable.
Thanks Natalia : )
Suzanne….your stylist needed a new bone to chew before being asked to make those contributions to your blog—I’m sure that’s the reason for him dropping the ball!! As for you…fabulous as usual. Even when you’re off kilter, you look great—maybe I need to borrow your stylist??? And where the heck did you find that term EBA?–only you! jodie

Ha! I swear that I “thought up” the EBA term, then and went and searched it on Google and loads of people have used it before me. It is sad in life when everyone has already thought of everything.
You’re a girl after my own heart wearing plaid/tartan! You look fab as ever, wonky scarf or not. I love these boots as they’re a bit unexpected with a dress, I’d have fallen into the norm of pairing them with skinny jeans, but they really work here. Dark glasses and long gloves make me think I ought to be asking for your autograph x
Anna
Autographs are only $10, but for you…$20. Ha!
Bargain!
I kinda like the wonky scarf! It’s a fashion statement. The stylish knew exactly what she was doing. Reinstate her. It’s Christmas after all – you don’t want to be Scrooge!
Love the jacket with the dress. Great styling with all 3 versions.

You are right of course. I can’t fire her during the holidays. In fact I think I will give her a raise. Extra doggie treats all around!
Tis bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaautiful!!!! I love the tartan blazer. I found one in a charity shop and wore it on my blog once but it was too big so it had to go but I was pretty sad about it!x
I own two! No joke. They almost look the same except one was thrifted with a crest on it and the other I bought retail through Top Shop. This is the Top Shop version. I never thought I’d wear tartan blazers as often as I do.
I love the Jackie dress in black and grey plaid.
I’ve observed an increasing number of Zoe pictures on your blog with an increasing number of eager readers. Coincidence? I think not…
; P You mean I’m not the only one that is in love with her?
Just when I thought you had exhausted all avenues of styling that dress…WOW…you did it again!
BTW…your assistant is just too cute!
Ok, I meant to leave the comment about the plaid jacket and Zoe’s expression on this post, but somehow it went on the next one. Having the link to the comments at the beginning of the post is throwing me off.
I like the outfit, but let’s be honest- dogs in ties will never not be the Best Thing Ever. Soooo cute!
Love this outfit Suzanne and you did a great job of mixing with plaid.
Your assistant is cute, but perhaps you could double her pay.
♥ carmen
You are right. This pattern mixing does work. I seldom do it, so I guess it is just not me. But that doesn’t mean it is not good.
As for your assistent… I know how hard it is to get good help and I can see from her face that she tries to put an innocent face. Which means she is covering up her inadequacies. I learned a new word from you: ineptitude. Thank you for that.
I already knew the word inclement from a joke of a drunk… tickle your arse with a feather…. rather inclement weather… Ending in “it is pouring outside”.
Greetje
Ha ha! I see you’ve come across these “people” in your work. Just “faking” it!
You must tell me that full joke one day. I think Robert would love it.
A drunk in a bar hears how another man says to a woman: “I would like to tickle your arse with a feather”. The woman turns round being very angry: “WHAT did you just say ?!!!!!” The man replies: “It is rather inclement weather”. And the woman says “Oh..”
The drunk thinks it is sooo funny. He staggers out of the bar and into another bar. Where he decides to pull this stunt with a lady in that bar. Only after she turns round angry (“WHAT??”) he cannot remember the punchlinecand says: ” It is POURING out there!!”
