We are in the middle of a long weekend here in Canada for Thanksgiving.
I thought I’d share some of the little things that have made my heart thankful lately.
Thankful For The Little Things
Our incredible weather.
This has been the nicest fall I can remember…in my entire 51 years on this earth. It is about 24 Celsius outside right now and I’m wearing shorts.
I get up early to walk the pug and this is what I saw this morning…simply gorgeous.
Homemade pumpkin pie with real whipped cream and homemade chocolate pumpkin muffins.
I took a whole plate of mini bite size pumpkin pies with whipped cream to my neighbours last night, another thing that is on my list.
Great neighbours.
Seriously, you have no idea how important this is until you don’t have them and no, I didn’t go and ask them for a photo for my blog. They think I’m weird enough. Ha ha!
The pug.
Since the husband is on the other side of the world, currently in Australia, I’m happy that I have a furry kid to share my days with, even if she is incredibly demanding.
I started breaking up her evening meal into three portions just so she would get off my back at noon when she starts begging to be fed again. I didn’t realize my dog can count. She knows two more meals are coming and won’t stop begging until she gets that third one safely in her belly.
My new computer.
I hate that I had to replace my old one but I’m happy that the migration of files was painless and I’m now working away on the new machine which is lighter and faster than the old one.
Facetime
Because without it I’d simply go nuts. My husband and I usually talk twice a day for about an hour or more each time. We schedule our days to fit it in and with a 12 or 15 hour time difference that can be challenging but we do it.
My health.
Every day I am grateful for my body taking me through life.
My fibromyalgia has been ramping up the more I age but I am refusing to surrender to it.
A Good Laugh
With all of the horrible headlines bombarding us daily I cherish a funny show or program.
I enjoyed Maron – Too Real a few weeks ago and laughed so much I think I’ll watch it again.
Last week I watched Big Mouth on Netflix and it is simply hilarious!
*Warning*
If you are a bit of a prude and gratuitous swearing makes your ears bleed this isn’t for you but if you like to laugh really hard while learning about human sexuality I suggest you give it a try.
The first episode was watchable but then after the second I think I binge watched another three they were so funny.
I ripped through the whole season in a week and was a bit depressed afterwards that it finished so quickly, I should have savoured it more slowly.
And because this is a style blog I’ll include some photos of clothes…because duh…
I LOVE ’em!
I wore this a few weeks back when we had some cooler days.
What are you thankful for today?
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!
Linking up with the lovely Patti over at Visible Monday.
I love reading this Suzanne!!! Because we should be more grateful for all of these things…and more!!!
Right now, I’m extremely grateful for the love of friends and family!! Although we missed you terribly at the meet up!!

I was so disappointed I couldn’t go. : (. Next time!
Such a wonderful post! So happy seeing you happy. Enjoy the holiday.
Really love that leather skirt. <3 I guess I'm thankful that I haven't been kicked out, yet, being an immigrant and all. Haha. I still can't believe how warm it is. Totally throwing me for a loop. I'm pining for 50-60 degree weather. Don't ask what that is in celsius, because I have no idea and probably never will. Heh.
People have been telling me that winters in Toronto are milder than in the Midwest and I feeeeeel like they're lying to me, because Midwest winters are harsh and I expect the same harshness, but apparently people are out doing BBQ in February. Soooo. Haha. I'm looking forward to seeing this state of affairs, but I've got all of my coats and sweaters. Ready for anything. Bring it, Canada! 😀
Also, Thanksgiving and Halloween in the same month? I'm all messed up, right now. Haha. Bah. I'll get over it. 😉

Well I can say that whomever is BBQing in Feb is one tough cookie.
The thing about TO weather is that it is unpredictable. One year we won’t even get snow in winter and then the next year we’ll be buried in it. I’ve been here when it doesn’t freeze during winter and then the next winter it is -25 C with the windchill.
I used to live in Alberta and those winters were HELL! Anywhere in central Canada can be bad.
I suspect our winters are milder compared to what you’re used to. If you look on a map TO is actually much more south that lots of the States. People don’t realize that. Also the Great Lake mellows out the weather. Lucky for us Buffalo gets dumped on and often times it misses us.
I needed a reminder to be thankful for what I have. Life has been tough lately, and it’s so easy to forget all the good we have. I’m very thankful for my family.
I love the dress with the flowers on you!
Sorry to hear things have been challenging lately Andrea. Keep you face towards the sunshine.
What a great post – wish I were there today, scarfing, I mean nibbling at that pumpkin pie, and kissing the pug. Then a nice long swan around the thrifts — your new jacket is fab, BTW. Happy holiday to you, xox

I wish you were here too! Maybe I should make a quick trip down your way this winter…you have some good thrift shops around where you live don’t you?
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, Suzanne. I loved reading your post, as I could do with a bit of positivity. It made me realize that there are quite a few little things that make me happy! It also made me crave a piece of that delicious looking pumpkin pie. I’m loving your outfit and I’m especially taken with the jacket with the fabulous back detail. Glad to hear all turned out well with the new computer. xxx
Yes I was very relieved when all the files migrated without issue. It is the first time I’ve restored from a backup drive onto a new computer. It did take an entire day…I have lots of files! but now I’m back up and running : )
I think we all need a good injection of positivity.
What a happy post and a fabulous outfit! Gotta love a pussy bow and a bustle!
Guess what? After commiserating over your computer woes my monitor packed up on Sunday morning. I’m not £70 lighter!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Robert & Zoe! xxxx
Sorry to hear about your computer. Wow! You made out like a bandit compared to me. I dropped over 3 G on my new computer. Something I would have preferred to put towards a winter vacation.
Happy Thanksgiving Suzanne! I’m thankful I’ve made such wonderful friends via my blog (I count you as one of those) and for my adorable boy Sylvester, who is the best roommate I could ask for.
I can’t imagine being far away from your loved ones without having Skype or Facetime to keep in touch (although apparently people used to write these things called “letters”…). I am not having any Thanksgiving-themed food today but am definitely enjoying the extra day away from the office.
Ha! Yes! Since I’ve lived away from family and friends for 30 years now I used to be quite proficient at writing letters. Now I’m so thankful for FaceTime.
I am very happy to be counted amongst your bloggy friends : )
Furry friends make the best roommates. They never judge or tell you that you shouldn’t be eating chips at 10 pm at night.
Happy thanksgiving Suzanne! Definitely need some comedy these dark days, laughing is good for us. Love your plaid jacket/leather skirt combo! X
I give you huge kudos for handling your husband being so far away so well. Mine is gone for ten days and I’m going crazy. Yes, so much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving Suzanne!
I think people never know what they are capable of handling until they are forced into a situation.
That’s such a great post, dear Suzanne! You are so right, before all, Happy Thanksgiving! Th weather is good, that’s great to be thankful for, of course! I didn’t know you have fibromyalgia, and are so active – one more reason to be thankful for, that you don’t surrender to that. The pug who counts is lovely and facetime too, I have to agree! Being thankful to our bodies who lead us in life is also great! And by the way, you look amazing with this fabulous jacket – I also loved the blouse and skirt! Hope you have a very beautiful day!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend Suzanne. Counting your blessings is so theraputic don’t you think? I start my day with thanks for my lot in life which sets me off on a good note. My mouth is watering at all of these food pics – is this your baking, really? – you’re too perfect! Loved this post. Your life isn’t looking too bad, my dear friend!
Anna x
Yes Anna, I love baking and cooking. I studied to be a chef just for the fun of it. Hard to imagine since as a kid I always felt that cooking was for losers. I worked in a hunting lodge in northern Scotland for a very traditional English family and the female head of household took it upon herself to change my perception of cooking. I’ve Madame Stroyan to thank for my love of being in the kitchen.
What a lovely happy post. Thanksgiving is early in Canada, isn’t it? Glad your new PC is The Business.
Well to that I would reply that everyone else is late! Ha ha ; P
You know the things that matter in a life. I cannot agree more. You have got your priorities right. What’s that about the neighbours? Didn’t you know who they are? Are they new in the neighbourhood. You know me and our street, I know nearly everybody (well, more or less).
Your outfit is great, really cool!! I prefer it without the jacket, which makes it more formal, but the check with the purple goes very well with that beautiful skirt. And the dress you are selling… again, what a shame as it looks so good on you.

PS I am also a big fan of lanes with trees which connect over the road. Plus some sun shining through. Ron always teases me with that.
Oh by the way, thanks for the comedy tips. I will watch them. Have you seen Hormonal Beast on Netflix Comedy hour? It killed me laughing.

I need to give that another try. I watched the first five minutes and didn’t like it.
The neighbours are the same since we moved here some 10 years ago now. They have been so good to me especially that Robert isn’t here. The one neighbour often does my yard work and always brings in our garbage bins. The other neighbour helped when we had a flat on the car and changed the tire for us. They are just awesome.
The trees are from the park where I walk Zoë. No cars allowed thankfully.
You should have been shopping with me today. I scored a whole bunch more items that look great on me that I hope to sell : )
I love and appreciate the sentiment of this post Suzanne! The pumpkins muffins look delish!
I am also loving this warm weather, although it bodes poorly for the planet.
I can understand why you would value FaceTime…that must be so hard for you. I am also sorry to read that your fibromyalgia is being aggressive. That is no fun.
I think you know I have an autoimmune disease as well, and it can be hard. I think I am having the most trouble lately from long term steroid use, though, and this season has seen many flares…but I am ok.
You look gorgeous in these outfits, the plaid jacket and navy skirt is stellar. You have a great talent for finding beautiful clothing and creating noteworthy outfits. I so enjoy tuning in to see what you are wearing.
Many thanks for my gorgeous maxi dress. It came and did not even need to be steamed, the wrapping and special touches are most appreciated. It those little things that often mean so much.
Stay well!

Such a great post!

What a completely delightful post Suzanne. I think we always appreciate a little bigger view of the aspects of someones life that they’re grateful for. A grateful attitude is clearly a path to more happiness overall and I love the simple, relateable way you shared with us. That picture of Zoe is just so “doggy” and that canine clock that motivates the food time grumblings and squeaks is annoying but impressive all at once. Even bunny poop snack time is forgiveable? We forgive ourselves for those 10:30 chips right?
Our friend Sherry is a little dynamo of blogger meet up planning. Our adventure in Seattle was SO good in every way. I accidently stayed an extra night and Sherry accompanied me on a second visit to Pike’s Market. She has such a welcoming, loving, joyful spirit and Seattle will forever be synonymous with her kind of hopitality. You would have loved it Suzanne.
Your stylings on this post are wonderful and I’d snap up that jacket in a heartbeat if I didn’t have the shoulders of a linebacker. You look beautiful Suzanne.
pumpkins, a pug and some fabulous clothes, that’s fabulousness!. Glad that your neighbours are lovely, it’s so bad when they’re Not!
I’m loving that purple skirt and cute jacket combo, the back of the jacket is so cool!!
And you look gorgeous!!!
