Florals With Leather
I like florals and I like leather. It is the ying yang of my style. Combining the two is a no brainer.
When I bought this leather skirt via thrift about a year ago now I had no idea I would wear it so often.

I could pull up to high tea on my Harley in this outfit. Of course I’d have a custom painted floral helmet to match.

I used to ride motocross a little bit when I was a youngin’. WAY back when. I quite liked it, although I must say I detest the sound of a Harley.
My older brother was a fan of racing motorcycles and owned quite a few when I was growing up. He also raced motocross.
I once made a long trip on the back of a non touring motorcycle from Edmonton to Regina (8.5 hours). Being young and stupid naive we thought it would be romantic and sexy to make the trip via motorcycle. It was not comfortable at all. I felt like I’d been riding a horse through a wind tunnel while someone threw debris and insects at me. It rained non stop, the visors were plastered with bugs and I froze. My hair at the time was long and permed (it was the 80’s remember), it whipped around like it was trying to escape my head for over eight hours. It took forever to get through that mess. We weren’t able to communicate through our helmets either. Yes we had the “no frills” helmets. iPods didn’t exist at the time so it was one flipping boring journey. It is a miracle we made it.
Everything I took for the trip had to fit into one side saddle bag.
We didn’t have much time to prepare for my friend’s wedding which was the whole point of the trip. We couldn’t afford a hotel room and my friend offered her place since she was staying at her Mom’s prior the wedding.
I remember dreading the return trip home.
That was the first and last “romantic” long distance motorcycle trip I ever took.
Everything was an adventure back then.
Oh to be young and foolish again.
Now I’m just foolish and I have no excuse.
Well I suppose I could say I’m old and senile.
There is always an excuse to be foolish if you look hard enough.
My husband’s mid life crisis has threatened a few times that he might “need” a motorcycle. So far it hasn’t come to that, fingers crossed.
So back to florals with leather before I got side tracked…yes or no for you?

Yes or no for you? Hell yes! Why not? Love the skirt on you and I love the combo of badass leather with the soft floral top!

Radness. I totally agree with that juxtaposition. I love to see mixes of hard and soft. That skirt is amazing!

Of course yes, a big fat YES! Although it would greatly help if I had some of your leather collection. As of the motocross racing, that’s just insanely crazy as well as your romantic trip, haha. I could not stop laughing as I read about this adventure, mainly because I most likely would have tried/done the same exact thing at that age if I had a motercycle handy. Now whenever I see them riding across the continent on their motor bikes, I just shake my head.
I love the combo! And that particular floral pattern is just so pretty! We have friends who take cross-country motorcycle vacations but I’ve always been of the opinion it wouldn’t be very comfortable. My preferred road trip style is sleeping, eating, and reading in the back seat while Angel drives, ha!
LOVE this! And the cockatiel clutch, so darling. And your “romantic” moto ride sounds truly hellish in the telling!
Yes to leather and floral and no to motorcycle riding for me. I have a few friends that love riding their Harley and spend a few nights with just a few items. I can barely travel with a carry on for a weekend trip!

Hope to see you for TBT Fashion link up.
I love a random mix – heavy metal jewellery with a floaty chiffon dress, beaten-up denim with sequins, a tatty old suede waistcoat over an evening dress.
Your mix of leather and florals works beautifully and that ace skirt fits you a treat – a rare thing to find with vintage leather as it’s already moulded to its previous owner.
One word, fabulous!
I fondly remember riding through the lanes of rural Goa at midnight on the back of a vintage Enfield years ago in search of an ilegal rave. I’d still do it now.

You really know how to make this leather skirt shine. Pairing it with the floral top is brilliant! You have made we want to give the concept of a leather skirt a try, when I’m out and about at the estate sales. Thank you for your inspiration always!
I love it! I love the contrast. I bought a (faux) leather pencil skirt recently, but ever since I posted an outfit post in it I’ve been pestered by internet weirdos!
I must wear it with florals, though whether I can face more weirdos by doing an outfit post in it we shall see!
Love this combination! I STILL haven’t found a leather skirt…
I’m so drawn to florals, and I love this outfit. My problem is finding things that don’t make me look like my grandmother’s couch!
I actually did a floral and leather look not long ago and keep meaning to post about it!!
love this look

I really like this outfit. The previous one with all the different patterns is too far out of comfort zone. But this one… Mmwahh. Beautiful. I don’t own any floral tops but now want one. Like this one.

Playing with binaries is my new favorite way to build an outfit. It ensures it’s always unexpected, interesting, and inspired. Leather and florals is a great example of a curious juxtaposition. So is thinking of you and your bountiful assortment of clothing and accessories being restricted to a single saddle bag. I can see why that didn’t work out. lol
